Mine would be in ethical speaking, honesty is good, while it is not always bad to tell a lie. White lies can be used as a compliment and also use to hide your real thought about a very sensitive topic.
"Do I look beautiful in my wedding dress?". I would surely say "YES" at all times and at the same time hiding my true real taught not to offend the bride.
How about you? honest is good, while lie is bad?

It depends on the situation. Sometimes a white lie is needed. But usually, honesty is good.

Well, I am afraid I'll have to disagree with you Fulltank, and probably with most people here. I believe a lie is a lie, is a lie. I do not believe there is such a thing as a "white lie" which is just an excuse for not facing the truth.
I accept there are times when we can AVOID telling the absolute truth, but there is no need to tell a lie to do so. There are also times when we can relate SOME of the truth, again without telling a lie. When talking with children and answering their questions, I believe truth is essential, but once again they only need enough truth to satisfy - not necessarily all the details.
I believe honesty is ALWAYS the best policy.

As I get older, I'm starting to think all lies are bad. Most of the world's problems can ultimately be traced back to hiding intentions, deception, and manipulation of the truth. As a matter of fact, I can't think of one conflict I have ever seen that wasn't fostered by deception.

Well why not, if everyone was honest on this world, there will be no scam sites and we all can make good money online then LoL. I wish that could happen, but hey, right now I'm already okay with a couple of sites. Honesty in speaking is another thing though as men/women tend to talk differently due to their different personalities.

i certainly agree with you Fulltank! It depends on the situation whether to tell a lie or the truth. Honesty is good yes! but sometimes not! Lie is bad but sometimes good! For example, your friend have witnessed a killing incident and it so happen that one of the criminals saw him/her, and are looking for him/her, then one time the group saw you and asked you, did you saw him/her whoever that is, would you tell them? Of course not! Cause if you do you loose a friend! But you tell a lie! Do you think it is good? Of course it is! Another! You accidentally hit a child, and the police knocks on your door, would you tell them that it's you and go with them? Or not? Of course i will! It is an accident, making me dodge the police will make me more suspicious and the police will think that i do it for a reason! It will lessen my sentence in i will go with the police and explain what happened. I tell the truth and so it is good! Get my point? That's all thank you so much for letting me respond to this very interestng topic of yours.

Hi,friend, you know, there are some situations where we can use lie for good concern.Lie is not always a lie and lie can be used for need base and lie can be used for some cheating purpose. So we deny lie using for cheating. We welcome lie for good purpose with which no harm should happen to any one.I hope you understand.I am bit little confused in expressing my views.Have a nice time.

I think you are right that in certain time lie is not a bad policy. If a lie doesn't hurt anyone or not said to gain something then I believe it's ok. So smaller lies are better. We should not make it a habit. Honesty always the best policy. But as you said at times to make someone happy or situation like this a lie will do.
