What's the biggest scare you ever had?

When I was a teenager, I read Pet Cemetary, by Stephen King. There are a couple of paragraphs at the beginning where he speaks about "the hand that reaches beneath your covers to grab your foot in the middle of the night". This gave me flaming nightmares! I used to tuck the bottom of my duvet under my feet, and roll it around myself, so that it was like a sleeping bag that no hand could get into!
One morning, I was sound asleep, and two hands grabbed both of my feet! I awoke immediately, screaming, and kicking, totally hysterical, even when I saw that it was my big brother standing at the bottom of my bed looking totally terrified at my reaction, it still took a couple of minutes for me to calm down.
It was my worst fear come true! Lol! He never did anything like that again!
It's funny thinking about it now. Do any of you remember what the biggest fright you ever had was?

I have had TWO really scary moments in my life (apart from health scares !!). The first was when my husband took me to the cinema to see Poltergiest. We watched the film which in those days was considered to be a bit scary, I needed to visit the bathroom on the way out, I turned to lock the door, and, something touched my shoulder,I froze,my heart pounding,I was too scared to look round for what seemed like ages, then I plucked up the courage to turn around and see what had touched my shoulder. I held my breath, I turned, and then laughed,it was the loo chain that had touched my shoulder as I turned to lock the door!!! Needless to say my husband and family have told this story many times!!
The second scary monent was when my husband and were staying at a friends home for the week-end,we were sleeping downstairs in the living room, with the window behind us.Well as we lay down my husband pulled the duvet up and over himself and I, seeing just a dark figure sat bolt upright, heart pounding, lashed out thinking I was about to be attacked, unfortunately I hit my husband in the mouth!! All I could see at the time was the scene from Friday 13th when Jason bursts through the cabin window at the end of the film!! Scary movies have a lot to answer for!!

Hee hee! Scary movies certainly do! Especially when you have an over active imagination. I used to have screaming nightmares as a child, and would wake the whole house up. My father let me stay up to watch Jaws one night, when my Mother was working. He got absolute hell from my mother when I had nightmares about it for a week!
The silver lining is, though, that you get to tell the funny stories about it that you wouldn't have had if you hadn't gotten the scare in the first place.

Well, my biggest fright was definately because of a ghost. I was sleeping in my friends room exhausted from studying Java, so I fell into a deep sleep. Someone tried to nudge me and wake me up so I woke up. I forgot there was no one there except me and my GF when suddenly a black smoke type of energy appeared. I was certain it was a ghost so I closed my eyes.

I totally forgot about this discussion - sorry!
I've had a couple of experiences which can't be explained, and I'd definitely put them down to supernatural activity as well. At least it was at a friends house, so hopefully you didn't have to sleep there again, lol!
