last night. which is a peculiar dream for me to have - i am not fat (bit overweight in my early teens, that's been it) and more relevantly not, i thought, worried about getting fat (when your diet consists mostly of hay and carrots this is not a major concern). so it sounds like an anxiety dream but not one relevant to me. it was also very boring. another time i've had what appeared to have been a pointless dream was when i was about 14 and along with my siblings i became addicted to an amiga computer game. i dreamt about it i think more than once. so have you had any dreams that seemed to you to be utterly pointless or strange?

I guess last night was the night to have weird dreams, because I had one, too. I woke up so angry at my husband that I didn't even want to talk to him, even though I knew that it was just a dream. Have you ever had a dream that was so real that when you woke up and realized that it was just a dream it took a while for your emotions to get back to normal?

yes. and i have woken up and thought both 'thank god that was a dream' and 'oh sh1t that was only a dream'. i have also 'woken up' inside a dream and it taken me a few minutes to realise that i was still actually dreaming (this happens during lucid dreaming), and then tried to wake myself up properly and failed. those are strange but interesting.

I never remember my dreams. I have only had a few dreams that I remember and they have always been about someone trying to get me and kill me. My husband says I talk and make a lot of strange noises in my sleep.

Oh, rabbit, one night I had a dream that the person chasing me slit my neck open and I woke up in the morning and my neck was all crapped up from sleeping with my chin down to keep from bleeding. What a sucky morning that was LOL But, ever since I can remember I had nightmares up until I was probably 13ish and started drinking, then I didn't remember my dreams and when I gave up drinking I only remember them from time to time.

I had a dream that was pointless in that it was obviously an anxiety dream, but I didn't feel worried about anything at the time. I dreamt I was back at my secondary school (high school), and I was trying to tell people I had left years before, but kept being ushered into classes, didn't know anyone, none of my friends were there, and they were all really hostile.
Eventually got away, and headed to the English dept to my fave teacher, who I was sure would help me. All of a sudden, I realised that someone had cut all of my hair off, and just as I was realising that, I looked down to see that not only was I bare butt nekid, I was also heavily pregnant! (I don't have kids yet!)
I still don't have a clue what that was about! But I was really glad I woke up! Lol!

I have had dreams that I was falling, and it started to scare me. Then, I remember that if I relax then I can fly, and I start floating. It is really weird, but it works. I don't think that I would want to find out what would happen if I didn't remember that I could fly.

jb, (putting on my Dr. dream analysis hat) I think if we look at the symbolism of the "fat" as insulation, maybe you are insulating yourself against something going on in your life that is pointless, no big thing so the "fat" is just protection against a pointless anxiety. (This is in NO WAY meant as anything other than a symbolic reasoning for jb's dream.)
(taking off my hat). I had a dream about two weeks ago that I was humongously obese to the point that I could not navigate stairs or sit comfortably on a chair, it was actually the oddest feeling I ever had dreaming and I never have had dreams where I take on a complete different body shape. But in this dream, friends that I have lost touch with from high school kept trying to tell me that I needed to stop eating and go to an addictions counselor for food. I remember looking at my arms, marvelling at the rolls and how I was moving. It was just the oddest feeling when I woke up. I am a very petite person so it felt so strange to dream that.

insulation? hey i think you have got it dr lina . i'm moving fairly soon for several reasons but one of the main ones is that the landlord never fitted double glazing in my flat (i asked lots of times, not a chance) and there is no way i am spending the winter in a place that turns baltic the second i heater is turned off.
actually that probably isn't the reason for that dream but it could make sense...

That is a good reason to move. Warmth is a major necessity of life....that would include insulation.

I'm sorry, but I just don't remember any dreams. I don't need a lot of sleep. I am soundly asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I don't move all night and I wake bright and refreshed and bounce out ready for another day a few hours later. If I dream, I don't remember a thing.
As a child I dreamed a lot. A recurring one was people chasing me and I would just flap my arms and fly above their heads. They would reach up trying to catch me, but I would flap harder and keep just out of their reach. I didn't understand it at the time but it makes tonnes of sense now.

Strange, right, how dreams can change our perspective for a temporary while. For me, at least. I have my fair share of weird dreams and each time, it left me hanging. My dreams are mostly clueless ones, and I always have to figure out what they are all about...which can be a bit daunting, because sometimes they say if we dream of something opposite of what we are, the meanings are also opposites. I don't know; last time my friend dreamed that her she lost one of her tooth or all, and it turned out her mom passed away after. It was not related but she remember that dream and thought whether it's kind of like a sign. Losing a tooth means losing someone very dear to us or someone very important in our lives. Don't know whether that's true or not. Some dreams, I do believe, some dreams, not at all; especially those bad ones.

i think there are different kinds of dreams. sad about what happened to your friend - maybe she did have a feeling that her mother was going soon and that was what brought on this dream. impossible for me to say because a dream about the same thing can have very different meanings for different people.

hijb my blue bunny now I am over the major shock of my nice yellow star beconming an ugly green 5 like a great many other people who overnight got dumped down, I have had the senseless dream over and over of being lost when I promised to meet friends at the Jc.penny's store. I start down the street and its all unfamiliar to me, nothing is where it should be, I realize I am lost and start walking and always run into an industrial area with piles of sand and dirt and huge machinery. I finally find a building with some offfices in it, and phone for a cab but usually by then I will wake up safe in my own bed,it was all a dream, but why htis dream, and to do it over, totally senseless.

Maybe you are pregnant and you just don't know it yet. When I was younger and was very sick I had a dream that a man was chasing me across a field. He never gained on me but I was sure frantic and scared he would catch up to me. I don't usually remember my dreams very often so I may have had some other dreams as well and just not know about it.

i hope not. however i am very careful so this is unlikely. i think i have had the odd running dream as well - but i tend to only remember most of my dreams for a short well after i wake up, then they are gone. like most people there are probably also a lot that i do not remember at all.

I consider ALL of my dreams to be strange, but I'm not so sure about pointless. It is just sometimes hard to find the point.
I remember one, it was in 1977 believe it or not, that would probably have seemed pointless if it were not for something happening in my life at that time. I ran out along a long pier and dived into a sea of choppy water, and as I was swimming along a shark attacked me. I grabbed its fin and got astride it like a horse, and guided it straight into shore.
And guess what was going on in my life? I was coming up to eight days of impotence (the only time in my life until age and health intervened) and my girlfriend was not exactly what one might call sensitive and supportive about it lol. When I woke up the morning after this dream I gave her what for, better believe it. I wore her out that week, and that was no bobble.
So, pointlessness is all about interpretation probably, but only you can adequately interpret your own dreams.

nice freudian one there . i think you are right about only you being able to interpret your own dreams - although other people's takes on them can be interesting. it is not often i get bored when dreaming though (although i might bore other people if i told them about all of them) and i still haven't completely figured this one out although i've got an idea.

I never dreamed I was fat, but I have had paralyzation dreams. But I'm pretty sure that was a coma recall moment rerunning in my subconscious. scary either way.
The fat dream would have freaked me out, as I've only ever been over 160 (lbs) one time and I was 9 months pregnant.

it didn't freak me out - it was just boring (it wasn't a lucid one so i didn't know i was dreaming) - looked in the mirror and noticed i was way plumper than i'd thought i was, can't remember the rest of it. i can't understand why i dreamt that at all unless it was my subconscious telling me to go easy on the curries.

dreams are meant to be strange......other wise it would not be called dreams....
i rarely have dreams as i am a sound sleeper...(even if i do, i don't remember them when i wake up). however there was a time when i used to have dreams and some were frighteningly familiar.
there are also some dream interpretators...you may contact them if you wish...

Don't worry about that, believe me the dream will never happen.I used to dream lots of dream, like I was fat,I was monitored by someone,I was abandoned by my parents.while, never happened. So,it just a dream, maybe you are so stressful for becoming a fat.relax and refresh yourself, everything will be ok soon.
