Does your star rating matter to you?

After a three years hiatus from mylot, I still retained my star ranked as 9, just this afternoon my star rating went down from 9 to 6. Well I am a little bit sad about it but maybe it is of course my doing. I haven' been able to post responses to the comments in my discussions and I am not yet able to select my best responses because it is quite busy in our office right now.
Anyway I resolved to myself that no matter what my star rating is, I will still try to post quality responses and new discussions.
How about you, does your star rating affect your performance here at mylot?

Yeah it's quite nice to see your star go up. I also like learning from the response of other mylotters. Thanks for posting.

It matters to me now that i know that it has an effect to your earnings. But it's not much of an issue to me since I am in control of that, If I want a higher rating, I just have to post more or the other way around. To me your rating is just a grade and a form of reward, if you perform well the higher your rating, the higher your rating the more earnings you got. Cheers!

Does it work that way? I didn't know that the star rating has an effect on one's earnings. Gosh maybe 3 years of being in hiatus from mylot makes my learnings here outdated. Thanks for the information and thanks for posting as well.

Hi there,
I feel that you are saying out my situation too.
I've been having 9 for quite some time, and today when I login to mylot, and I saw my star rating has been dropped to 6. I also thought it may be caused by not responding to the comments and selecting the best response for sometime, also I'm quite busy at work and also taking care of my baby. But then I realize that my friends' star rating have been dropped too. I wonder if it's the system error, or the admin has changed the calculation of the star rating.
Well, the star rating doesn't really matter to me, but I do try to perform good here, so that I won't offend anyone and will continue enjoy my participation here.

We are back at nine...I have been answering responses in between my work. I think the effect is immediate as I am back to nine. I don't know perhaps it is a system error why almost all starts went down when I posted this discussion. Thanks for posting.

Well i am unsure what all the colours mean as yesterday i was a blue 10 and today i am a pinky colour with a number6.I am also trying to reply as well as start discussions and i have not been able to see what all the different colours mean.My star rating is not going to make any difference to me as i will carry on the way i have been.

Hi there earth2jacq,
At first, I really don't care or think about the star/reputation because I started here without having any of it. I mean, it doesn't bother me at all until recently. I have come to like having a star (whatever color or rating it is) because it is like a guide for me on how I do here in mylot. But overall, it is always up to the discussion or responses we make. Like what you said, which I totally agree, we still have to post quality responses/discussions because after all, it is our reason why we are here in the first place. Well, aside from earning some bucks out of it. We are here to enjoy and have fun! So that star is like an icing on the cake.

Hi danitykane. Yeah I just got used to having the 9 star. I was just a little surprised and disappointed that it got down to 6. It's just that I have gotten used to it. Well now I am happy that I am back to being a 9. Thanks for posting.
