I like comedies, and romantic comedy, I'm not into all that gore, blood and guts kind of movies. I used to watch them when I was younger, I even watched horror movies too but nowdays, I'm not into it, guess I must be getting older..lol.

Romantic comedy movies are generally light, thus good to watch. I remember watching doubled movies in our local cinema when i was young; The alligator and the Jaw... i develop fears of swmming in an open water. Not good experience. If you want to de-stress comedy and light romantic flicks are great.

A good movie for me would have to be one that is not fairly predictable, accompanied by good actors. I think there are so many movies these days that are just really predictable. Like you can tell the ending or how the movie is going to go within the first 15-30 minutes of watching it. The genre doesn't matter. I just don't like movies that are dense and predictable.

It's not the actors as much as the plot. I want action, humor, bad guys getting their butts kicked, justice prevailing, and friends standing by each other. I like it simple! I love sci-fi, but there aren't really a lot of good movies in that genre. I like action/suspense more than others I think, although a good comedy is great. Romance is ok, as long as it isn't too sticky. There are some movies that are really not that good, but I still love 'em. Like Long Kiss Goodnight. I could pick that one apart all day, but I love it. I really do. Lethal Weapon 1,3 and 4 (yes, I skipped saying 2). Always (romance, but so funny!). The King and I (their constant bickering was fun). Terminator 2. T1 was a nice little romance, period. T3 should be on a junk pile. T2 was the best of the 3. I've never really liked Will Smith, but he makes some fabulous movies. Even ones I wouldn't normally like, I liked because of the way they were handled. I adore George Clooney, but I don't care for most of his movies. They're just not my kind.

Hi Ronny! A movie that will be good to me, would be anything with a lot of suspense! And of course an occasionally great actor wouldn't hurt!

For me as long as the movie has a good story I don't care about whether the actor or the actress is not famous. I like to watch movies especially action, comedy or sci fi.

Yes I guess the most easily identifiable part of any movie is the star but like you mentioned the plot is important too.

My idea of a good movie is a well made one doing justice to the theme. It can be of any genre. It has to do justice to the subject taken to make it interesting and absorbing for the audience. We can find very good examples of movies in each category. And I like to watch any kind of movie if it has got a great production value.

The plot is all that I care for. If it can be gripping and unpredictable without being unreasonable, then I might watch the movie. Another factor I would consider is it should not be a violent movie. I don't mind situational violence here and there when it's necessary, but the theme shouldn't run on the basis of violence. Then the content shouldn't offend my sense of morality too. Genre isn't really an issue, if the movie is made with great care and meticulousness. Suspense thriller is my favorite genre.

It's the story. If I get involved and I care about the characters and what is happening then it is a good movie.

It has to move me emotionally! That is what makes a good movie to me! Whether it is a comedy that makes me laugh, an epic tale that takes you through all sorts of emotions or a sad film based on a true story. If it moves me, then I consider it to be a good movie!

It can be any genre as long as it is good and up to the standard. It will be great if the main actor and actress can act well, with the right chemistry, handsome/cute and pretty. The story line should not be predictable, had some great philosophy / ideas that we can appreciate, with a twist in it. Realistic, great special effect like 2012 will be superb :)

I like romance/drama but whatever the case or kind of movie in any category I like the ones that are based on true stories.... These movies actually give you every category whether it is drama, romance, comedy, or scary..... It just gives you something to relate too..... Everytime I watch a movie based on a true story there are things that occur that have happened in my life or I have seen on the news.... It just brings things into perspective.

I'm usually drawn to movies in which I find the story line interesting. As far as the genre of the movie, I prefer comedies, but enjoy dramas, suspense and sometimes action movies.

Normally, I prefer the movie to have some actors that I am familiar with. At least one or two that I saw their face before in some other movie. Then a story line that persuaded me to believe that it is real or touching. Combine with good theme song, background music and scenery, then everything will be perfect.

Lots of different things go into making a movie "great" in my mind. Characters you can really believe, empathize with, maybe even see yourself being friends (or enemies) with. That is partly the writers' job and partly the actor's job, to make the character into someone real. I have a fairly lengthy list of favorite actors and they all have fairly formidable resumes littered with amazing characters. And chances are if they are in a film then I will give it a chance because of their reputation. A plot with a good solid line. We've gotten to a stage where, especially in horror movies, the plot seems to have become the least important part of the movie. If a movie has big explosions or gallons upon gallons of high velocity blood spatter and brain matter leaking all over the warehouse floor or a "smokin' hot" female lead willing to wear a dishtowel around her waist and call it a skirt, then that movie no longer needs a plot to keep people interested. And that makes me sad. I'm pretty partial to dramas and thrillers but a genuinely good comedy that relies on actual comedy and not gimmicks or gross-out jokes will keep me interested also.

I like comedys and romantic movies the best. I'm not really particular about who is in it, as long as they are good actors and the story is good. If it stars someone I like that's better, but not necessary. I hate when the previews hype a movie and it's supposed to be soo good, and then when I see it I'm let down. I remember I expected so much from "Beverly Hills Cop" and then when I saw it, I didn't like it as much as I expected to. I thought it was good but not great like I thought it was going to be. That's happened more than a few times.

Hola from Spain. A good actor, a good script, good director, a good producer ... That's easy. Good movies are based on the involvement of those responsible. Inside and outside the camera. I've seen players who normally are horrible, they have made memorable performances in a given time. The difference: the hands that have produced the product. A good director, it is not so, if he can not engage their stakeholders. Not enough to have a good script, it should be responsible for the product worldwide. A good producer will do the impossible so that the fiction is really all you need and will require to give everything I needed, too. A "team" makes a good movie. A "good director" with no team, can do what? A "good player" who is not involved in the role, makes a bad business (Think ex. Wesley Snipes). From all this, no matter the topic. If everything works, the result will be "extraordinario". Think in a film, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", had the money, history, technical professionals, actors .... Someone believe the characters?Carlos, sorry for my English.

For me, what makes a movie good is it's twist, the story, if the story will make me think and realize somethings, then it is enough for me to say that the movie is a good movie. Thanks for letting me post to this beautiful topic. Happy mylotting

For those who are movie fanatics, you can relate to this; 1.) A good movie leaves a smile on your face after you left the cinema 2.) You can hear its soundtract even if its not actually playing... the whole experience just leaves a mark on you. 3.) You share it with friends 4.) A fav scene just flash in your mind when the situation triggers you to.. you either smile, cry, be sad, happy, angry, remorseful... it awakens deep emotions in you. 5.) You learned from it 6.) You can identify with its characters 7.) You actually write it in your slumbook, diary, journal, or just share it in a random conversation if the opportunity of presenting it arise 8.) You remember it years.. years.. and years after. 9.) You memorize unforgettable lines theme is important in a good movie... dialoques..actors... setting.. musical scoring... and every element of it and what makes it more surreal at times is the time that you share it with someone special.

Hi ronnyb, Main thing is the actor.Because of the actor only the crowd is attracted to see the film. And the second is the concept. Most of the films will be a mega hit because of the hero.Even though the movie does not have any concept it'l run like anything.
