So I need an opinion on something... I just recently moved out to CA, and obviously had to set up an account with the electric company. So I called the turned the service in my name, but they wanted me to pay a $72 deposit to establish credit. Which was fine I understood that. So I paid it. It showed up online on my account it was paid and in my bank account paid. Then 2 weeks later I got an email from them telling me I had to pay the $72 deposit. So I called them and asked them why I had to pay it again, and they said the payment was returned. So I went into my bank account and it wasn't, it still said paid. So I told them and they asked me to fax them my bank statement so they could talk it over with the billing department. Well I had to send it in because they're fax machine didn't work. Now I get my new bill stating that I still have to pay the $72 deposit. And when I emailed them and asked them why I have to pay it again. They told me the same thing they told me on the phone about it being returned, which it wasn't. So I emailed them and told them that I sent in my bank statement showing it was paid what's the problem??? Now I asked my mother for her opinion and she told me that if they have my bank statement showing it was paid there shouldn't be a problem. I just need some opinions on what I should do or say to them the next time I call and yell at them again lol

hi treemarie if you gave them a check then there should be no problem and your bank account shows you paid, what more do they want? ask your bank to send you your check you paid them that should indeed prove that they had been paid as they had to cash it and it had to return to your bank.

I used my debit card online to pay for it. I removed my card since then so they can't just take it out when the feel like it. I don't know what more they want. I sent them the proof I paid it just liked they asked and I guess they didn't understand it lol

Hello TreeMarie, Don't you hate when this happens? The Problem is obviously with the companies system. I would go in person if possible and take your bill and bank statement with you, then request to speak to a supervisor, drop the hint that you may need to get your Attorney involved...watch them fix it FAST ! Good Luck :)

I wish I could get there in person. I don't have a car yet. I've already yelled at them on the phone twice. And the letter along with my bank statement I guess wasn't enough proof for them. Haha I should mention an attorney on the phone. Good idea lol

I hate to hear these things. What I would do is contact your local PUCO to see if they can assist you. I would also keep a record of what you paid and continue to tell them you will not pay something you already paid. I would not myself I have a really high electric bill myself right now and I am planning on going to get some help myself and get mine paid. I know bills are so high right now. Mine have been high for the past few months and really I dont have the spare money to pay them. I believe good things will come from it and that is how I plan to think. Take care and I hope this gets resolved for you too. Happy mylotting as well.

Sounds like they are trying to scam you, be careful.
