Our teens chat more on net than with their parents

On a previous discussion from a member, internet and television change the lifestyle of many people in the recent years. I truly agreed with his discussion, and I would also emphasize the weird phenonemon I encountered too. My teen nieces spent more time on the IM or other online chat room than talk to her family members. I simply don't understand, how modern teens rather talk to someone who is total stranger to them than their family members? Is it more adventurous, more fun? They never see each other, simply pick up the line online. Why?

When you're online, you can multitask. You're not limited to speaking to someone like you are when you have a phone in your hand. When you're on the phone, you sort of have limited things to do in terms of multitasking. I think that's the reason why a lot of teens spend time online. Apart from that, they get to play games and do other stuff. Maybe some find it more interesting to talk to people from different places.

It seems reasonable to justify what you are saying, but not all the teens are the same. I just let you know that, some teens do give attitude towarrd their parents when the parents want a peaceful conversation. That is problem.

I do agreed with your view that younger generation seems spending more time online than with their parents and family members. Because teenager likes to explore and talk with their own age friends, although they are totally strangers. For them, it's an exciting experience in life, as they can get to know what is happening in the surrounding area outside of their own home. Only, we must make sure that they are not fall into the trap of their totally stranger friend.

I'm not entirely sure how to answer, there may be several reasons. Maybe they do need a little more adventure, more exploration because talking to your known family is a bit boring after a while of talking about the same things. Exciting things don't happen every conversation when you have already talked to them many times before. But on the internet, the strange new people you meet have these new ideas, making a nice conversation. It's like mylot. Do we really know anyone here in real life? Not really, so we are all strangers, but we talk more because it is simply more interesting. . .

An average teen like myself, tend to use the web to socialize with friends. Many websites and instant messenger programs are used by teens to communicate with each other. Teens talk online more than talking to their own parents due to all of the hours they spend online. I myself, talk more online than to my own parents. I find it kind of sad.

I find this very accurate and yet sad. Teens online seem to be more socially active since it's easy to talk online. There's programs called AIM, Skype, YM, and a whole other bunch of instant messaging programs. There's even websites like Myspace or Facebook that makes the average teen spend more time talking to their friends online rather than talking to their own parents.

I have noticed this to be more and more of a Trend as well. It is now either that or Text messaging each other, and it is quite amazing to see this for sure. I have even seen this consume people older as well, as when it comes to some of the Social networking sites out there as well. It is sad to think that there are many people spending more time online chatting with others, then with their family members and makes you wonder what type of Relationship they can ever have and endure with them as well.

It's because being anonymous, or party anonymous is easier to let things go. You can't confine your parents about your secret desires or secrets.

When I started to use internet first I start from Chatting. In beginning I made Lots of unknown friends online but later start getting boring so leave online chat. Now I only chat with those whom I know personally.
