Yule Versus Christmas

Many of the traditions that we hold as "Christmas" are actually from the original Celtic holiday of Yule. Holly, mistletoe, candles in windows all have long runs in Celtic mythologies before Jesus was even born much less had his own holiday. Therefore, since Christians are no longer being persecuted for their public beliefs and general religion, would it be so wrong if we switched Christmas to Jesus' actual birth in the spring and name the end of the year celebrations as Yule since the majority of what makes the season so special is from pagan traditions rather than having anything to do with Jesus?

I think you would find that a few more people follow christianity than the old pegan traditions, so a switch would probably be pretty hard :) Majority rule and all that.
