Since "A Christmas Carol" has been held as such a holiday tradition it has been made into many forms and has recently been turned into a family classic because of its moral message. However Disney's new movie version of "A Christmas Carol" stuck close to the original tale and has some parents annoyed. They call it "scary" and are upset Disney created a cartoon that could scare children. I think those types of comments are silly. The original story by Dickens has a longer title than simply "A Christmas Carol." The FULL title is "A Christmas Carol - Being a Ghost Story of Christmas." That's right, "ghost story." Therefore, I don't see how people are shocked by the horror factor of the new movie.

Disney has already done the classic fairy tale rather forumalic version in the Mickey's Christmas Carol telling, so it is very refreshing that the newer movie was very different and even better that it was closer to what the original story. I went and saw the Christmas Carol Train Tour this summer and from the start even if they did not follow the scarier parts of the story it seemed it would be scary for young kids just because it is definitely ghosts and in 3D. I saw the movie last Sunday and really enjoyed it and can see kids being scared by it, but that is why it is rated PG for scary sequences and scary images.
