I love fantasy and science fiction.
especially those with a fairytale like feel to them. I would paste little snippets of my work, but alas it is not allowing me to do that.
works like Mercedes lackey's 500 kingdoms and Robin McKinley are wonderful in their telling. Seeing old fairy tales re spun for adults in a novel setting is wonderful.
I am working on retelling and giving a story to the winter character, "Jack Frost." I am also writing a story of three girls in fairytale like settings. One is a merchants daughter, who when the prince looks favorably upon her, she is cursed into a dragon's from whenever she blushes. The second a princess in a perfect kingdom that runs away from the perpetual sunshine and rainbows. The third a millers daughter that ends up in the world of fairy tales where the other two preside. With a little work from their fairy godmothers the three are brought together to help each other out.
i have several other stories based off of animes and video games. Ever see a show or read a book and think, Man I wish they had gone this direction instead of that? That's where several of my favorites come from. Also a few from dreams. funny how you can have a dream worthy of spinning a tale to.

I really like the drama and medical thrillers the best. I try to write in both of those genres when I write. I don't know exactly why those are my favorites, but I think a big part of the reason is that both of them are things that I can associate myself with. They are both things that I know a lot about so it is easy to make a good story out of them. In fact, when I first started writing as a child, even then my stories were based around the medical field in some sort of way, even though I made up diseases and stuff at that time in my life.

How fun! So funny that as a kid you wrote medical stories. The part where you made up diseases sounds like fun. Any have any fun names?
So do you write as a hobby or have you been able to publish anything? Is so on either, how much have you written and do you have trouble writing?
I love coming up with ideas and characters but actually writing the story can be a pain.

I like history stories, such as the World History and Chinese History, for example, Napoleo is a famous man in Europe History, once he swept the whole of Europe,he was emperor of France,French people love him,and people from other countries who fear him.that's Napoleo,he created history,so people did not forget him,I really liked to read his story,he taught me how to be a strong man, although he is not a high man,he is a powerful man.this is what I should learn.

Yeah he's pretty cool. A brilliant man, deserving to the legend that history has left us. Thank goodness we have our history to read and learn from. I like the phrase learn from the past mistakes. There are many people we can learn from and those we can use as a god idol. Not like the fluff and fake idols of today.

I, too, love Fantasy and Science Fiction. I have to say my writing is more SF than F.
I do like Lackey's 500 kingdoms and can't WAIT for another book to come out!
I read a book recently The Stepsister Scheme http://www.amazon.com/Stepsister-Scheme-PRINCESS-NOVELS/dp/0756405327/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b/184-4865919-4026038 that takes all the old fairy tales and gives them a twist, a hard twist...

I like writing novels which feature people traveling to different destinations. I have studied literature at university. I used to write very quickly in those days and now I type. I quite like writing stories about animals. I have written some children's stories that I have used in the classroom with children. I am really keen on writing short stories.

Typically, I am a fan of the classics. The older I get, the more I appreciate stories that are written by women from the area of the country where I am from. Even better if the subject is about the area too!

It is nice to see writers in your area and history have written. While I love history, and find it a lot of fun, when i want to read I tend to want to get away from this world and enter something fantastical.
