For all programmer in myLot community, As we can see, there's a lot of programming language available in current era. Open source language such as PHP and Java, are very popular nowadays. There are also Closed Source that has been used like Basic, .NET, Delphi, ASP, etc. Which one do you use and why? I have such discussion with some of my friends, and they tend to say that closed source is better than open source. The reason behind their opinion is that closed source programming language have better IDE, better service, and better usage. In some case an error happened then the developer will respond immediately and quickly (as they are paid for it! of course!). I actually prefer to closed source programming language, .NET is one of my favourite, especially with the addition of Silverlight. However it's sad to know that .NET programming needs more resources, and that's why I begin to learn about PHP and other open source thing. What about you?

I do know a little of the programming languages but i think closed source is better than open source since its not as heavy as the open source programming language.

sorry lemonsqueezey, what do you mean with "heavy"? If "heavy" means "taking a lot of resource" then open source is better, because close source programming language eat up lot of resources, mostly to support their IDE's. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. Thanks.

IT is depend on the need. If you are advanced an trained programmer maybe Open Source program is better. You can develop the application. So it will be better application than the original version. But if you not an advanced programmer, better use closed source because the developer have designed the application easy and user friendly.

Thanks for the response. I am not an advance one. I think it depends on the budget on developing a program also. If we are low on budget, then open source is better right? But if we are not low in budget, then closed source programming language would be a better option. Well, it back to like-dislike thing again I think :) Thanks for the response. Btw, are you a programmer?
