have you ever had a monkey as a pet would you want to?

i have never had one as a pet!!! but man i would love to!!!! i haves heard stories about it where the owner treats the monkey a son. she was so depressed about being alone and her kids growing up that she got a monkey a literally treats him like a baby son of hers. i think it would be fun and not just for fun but have him be part of the family as well. it is alot of responsibility because like that lady is doing your have to treat it as a son!!! it takes a lot of care and your time to take care of a monkey let alone a son takes even more. the moneky would be a good companion. so what is your thought on this???? would you like to take care of a monkey?? i would!!!! i love monkeys little ones more!!! happy mylotting everyone maria s.

When I was a kid, I did want a monkey for a pet. Now...not so much. I have been hearing about this woman who raised an ape as her son and it recently attacked her friend and nearly killed her. I know monkeys and apes are different but I stopped wanting a pet monkey years ago. They are cute tho but I imagine a lot of work and I would not have the time to properly care for one.

hi there sid!!!! i can imagine that they are alot of work as well!!! wow an ape gets pretty big and is very strong. the ape story that i heard of, the lady took all his teeth out just incase her monkey would bite someone even though she said she wouldn't have a problem with him. i am guessing she might have also declawed him too. i would still love to have one but one that is tiny. i love tiny pets. i used to have a hamster and i loved her!!! anywho. thanks for your comment!!! happy mylotting maria s.

yes the tiny monkeys are adorable. The more recent ape attack has been recent. This ape ate the woman's face off. It was horrible. He also mangled her hands. She was just on oprah the other day.

What!!!!???? OMG!!! I can't believe I missed that show. Shows like that make me think twice about getting a monkey. I dont' know maybe I really should think about it. Well it's not like I am going to get a monkey anytime soon. I have alot of time to think about it. thanks for the comments. Happy mylottin maria s.

Hey again maria! I would a monkey! I always said, when I hit the lotto I am going to get myself a baby chimp! They are so cute! Plus it will mean that I won't have to have any more children, it will be a great companion for my daughter! lol...

I had many pets in the past, but never a monkey... but, i think, it can be a real fun having a monkey as a pet... monkeys are intelligent animals... that reminds me of the movie 'monkey trouble'... that's one of my favorite movies... i still watch the movie over and over again... my kids love the movie too... have you watched the movie? it's really fantastic, full of drama and suspense... making is excellent, story too... Oooopppps, it's not a discussion in the movie section...anyway, it's about a cappuccino monkey, very intelligent... the monkey was originally owned by a thief who taught the monkey how to steal... it was the living of the thief... in the course of the movie, the monkey flee away from its owner and came in the hands of a little girl... the girl dis-taught the monkey the techniques of stealing... the thief was everywhere looking madly for the monkey... when he found it, it was between the girl and the thief about its possession...whether the monkey would return to its original owner, the thief, who used to maltreat it, or remain with the girl, who was very caring to it... really, if you watch the movie, you will certainly wish strongly to have such a monkey as your pet... and i tell you, cappuccinos are cute little ones, that i'm sure you'll love to have...

Well thats ok that you got off the discusion.I just wanted to know the idea of everyone here on mylot of having a monkey. I would love to have one. I love monkeys. Every time I see one on TV I tell my fiancee that I want one!! I want to have a spider monkey. I would treat it as one of the family, not sure about putting a diaper on it though lol. I have seen movies, and shows where they would put diapers on the monkeys like they were an actual baby. One of these years I'll get one! They are expensive and definitely a lot of work and patience.
