Every winter i start to hate my car. Its getting to that time of year. Winter tends to mean it gets stuck because the snow is deeper than the car is high...or its so cold the car doesnt start. And all the winter sorts of problems.
Well this year tis the season has started earlier! Saturday i got a flat tire. Hate that. Made me mad so i started singing Tis the season to hate my car. Well Yesterday it changed to I HATE MY CAR TODAY NOT LIKE YESTERDAY (to the tune of i love myself today by biff naked) When i was driving down the highway and it Broke. I slowed down to yell at the dogs and all of a sudden theres this big cracking sound the steering wheel jerked and then the motor or something started to whirr and whine like something was totally rubbing the wrong place. Luckily i wasnt going fast so i didnt loose control (only 40kmph) and i was RIGHT infront of the place that i take my car to to be fixed. The guy is away for the week so I'm driving my dad's truck for a bit (theyre away too) So have yet to find out what really broke and if its worth fixing.
So do you ever hate your car? What makes you hate it? What sorts of things go wrong for you?

You do not need to drive your non existent car in the non existent snow and ice and cold to your non existent mechanic. The best of all worlds.

I know the feeling. I've hated a few of my cars like this. My husband's last work truck was no exception. Even though it was a Toyota it was old and started having troubles right before we got rid of it. At one point it kept stalling out and I had a hell of a time starting it back up, and this was after we got a brand new battery for it. I was fed up and made the mistake of taking it through the drive thru one night. Sure enough it got stuck, right in the drive thru. I was so mad, mostly at myself, for going up in the first place. I have no doubt the employees there knew it too. LOL They were really nice to me about the whole thing though. After a few tries I was able to get it started. I don't know how, but I somehow made it all the way home, though it did stall several more times before I got there. That was the last time I drove it.
It turned out that it had a blown head gasket. Great. My husband tried to get it fixed for cheap (if you call $400 cheap). However, it didn't work, and we were back to where we started, minus 400 bucks. In the end, we ended up selling it, along with a couple of other vehicles (one other non running car and a motorcycle), to get the money we needed to buy the car we have now. It's an older vehicle too, though a few years younger than the truck we had. And so far it's holding up great, but it's in need of some scheduled maintenance NOW, which isn't cheap, but if we don't get it done soon it'll end up costing us a lot more if something important decides to break...
Cars! They sure are fun, aren't they? LOL
Happy mylotting!

I was too mad to be embarrassed! LOL
It's not that I don't want to do the maintenance on it. I do. I want to keep the car in tip top shape, after all. The only problem is money. There isn't enough of it. LOL And with my husband's speeding ticket due at the same time the money for it could have went towards the maintenance instead. But the ticket has to come first. Heck, I'm even putting off some of the regular bills just so this ticket can taken care of. Lord only knows how we're ever going to get caught up...
As for minor maintenance like checking fluid levels, changing spark plugs, and oil changes, my husband does that himself. However, when it comes to the bigger things, like a transmission flush, there is no way for him to do that, so we have to get it done by a real mechanic instead.
Hopefully the car will hold up for now and things like our electric and phone don't get shut off in the process. We shall see what happens.

Oh that would have made me mad too! and Embarrassed too but i embarrass easy!
I've learnt with my car if i get it fixed when it starts showing sypmtoms rather than putting it off...its cheaper to fix. I've also learn to check fluid levels and such..and apparently sparkplugs need to be changed more than once or twice a decade....
I think my sister learnt tonight that if you dont take a problem back when they dont fix it you're going end up SOL for a car esp when it comes to the transmission...it wasnt shifting correctly...then got fixed..and started it again...and she took ti back once..then it started it again and she didnt bother...today apparently it started smoking and wont shift and smells funny...and had to ahve it towed. She called the expensive towing company because she didnt want to have to talk to my ex. (oups guess the expense is my fault hey) and found out shes blown her transmission...
She did that to moms blazer too...was told not to drive it without getting the hose fixed and seh drove it anyways...now its busted too.

these machines do seem to know the most inopportune time to break down, either stranding you out in the middle of nowhere or when your checkbook balance is low. We started a new business undertaking 2 weeks ago, and wouldn't you know the very next day our main car started acting up, almost stranding my husband on his way back to the office. We don't have time or money right now to get it to the shop, but luckily we have an older van we keep for hauling large items and for just this type of situation, so we can just let the car sit a couple more weeks till we have time to deal with it.

I swear mine starts having issues of some sort every year around december/january. This year it was tires, spark plugs, alternator belt, and airfilter. Other years its been the radiator fan, the battery, (tires i usually replace in june but this year 2 went totally flat at the beginning of dec)
January i hate my car generally because it snows and i get stuck.
Its a good thing you have a backup vechile you can use until you have money//time to deal with the problems.

Ohhh! Me, I hate my van! The fact that the transmission went the day after I got it from the dealership should have been a sign. But no, I kept it. So after, the transmission was changed, the brake was changed twice, tires got changed after fishtailing in winter, after something got fixed for $400 to pass emission tests, now it is constantly overheating!
The worst thing is, if I sold it I wouldn't get even a $1000 for it.
