Help me learn to play Farmville better

I've just recently started playing Farmville on Facebook and I suck. I can't get enough coins and my crops keep dying. Usually I'm really good at simulation type games (like SimCity or the sim mode in Actraiser for SNES) but for whatever reason I can't get the knack of this one. Are there any secrets or cheats or anything anywhere? I found one place ( http://farmvillecheats.org/ ) but I want to know if there are any secret codes or anything I can type in that will give me some extra free coins or crops or anything? Or do you have any tips for a noob like me? Oh, and how many neighbors do you have? Thanks!
