First off I'm a little surprised this discussion hasn't received more responses. It's certainly a hot topic in the theological discussion world. So, enjoying that I'm actually the first to respond for once I'll give it a go... personally I would say the answer to your question, for myself, is both yes and no. To explain... I believe that we have a set of predefined "lessons" to learn in this life, but we may learn those lessons, or not, in any order we chose while here. For example we have destined to learn thing A, B, and C in this life. However, we can learn A and C but not B. Or we can learn all three but in the order C, A, then B. So we have destiny, in a sense, but we also have a large degree or free will. Hope that makes sense.

I do not believe in destiny. I am quite convinced that the path is forged by the choices you have made. They are not preset as you can better your life by changing certain things you do. This leads me to believe that destiny is just some romantics idea.

Yes and no. I think that we shape our own destiny. I do believe that we are born with let say patterns and we can make choices to fit into that pattern.
