The rule in question pertains to a member's website content; it reads as follows: "May not include grass-roots lobbying or solicit support for a member's position." Here are the highlights of what Michele Bachmann posted on her official, taxpayer-funded website on Nov. 2: Bachmann Calls on the American People to Bring the Town Hall To Washington "This is the deciding moment and the people need to make sure their representatives know where they stand." WHAT: Health Care “House Call” on Washington Press Conference WHO: Republican Members of Congress Actor Jon Voight, Radio Host Mark Levin and others. WHEN: Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 12:00-2 WHERE: West Front of the U.S. Capitol (House Side) “The American people need to stand up again and make sure that Congress hears them this time. Speaker Pelosi is putting her bill on fast track to a vote — and it remains to be seen if the House will even get a chance to vote on the commonsense Republican alternatives. The people need to make a House Call on Washington this week and tell their Representatives to vote no to a government takeover of one-fifth of our economy. This is gangster government at its worst." (End of excerpt) That sure looks like "grass-roots lobbying or soliciting support for her position"to me, how about you? Ok I have a question. Why is she calling on John Voight? Is he in her district or something? I mean come on, does anyone really like him? I don't think the House rules apply to anyone regardless of the party.

I never was a fan of hers. And yes this should not be on her website. Although I agree with her view on this bill. The rules still apply. If she wanted people to know about the event she should have done a press release and been done with it. A lot of politican have started grassroots organizations....but you won't find information about them on their government websites. I really think things are going to get ugly on this bill. Too many people are on both sides on this bill. Which means either way it goes...a lot of people are going to be ticked off....really ticked off.

She was all over Fox News promoting this "press conference" so I'm sure anyone who would have been interested would have learned about it there. I hope they do something to her for breaking the rules. This nutty woman needs to be reigned in...lol! Annie

She's announcing an upcoming event that is planned, stating her opinion about the bill and that she believes the Democrats are obstructing Republican legislation from being debated. Is that Grass-roots lobbying or soliciting support for her position? I think a good lawyer could argue both sides. You could probably go to every member's taxpayer-funded website and find something that could be in violation of this rule. Bachmann just happens to be target #1 of Pelosi at the time, so her indiscetions will receive more press.

I really don't think Pelosi has anything to do with this at this time. In my opinion, she definitely used her website to urge people to attend a rally in support of her position on the health care plan. I suppose a good lawyer could make an argument for just about anything but this seems to be pretty much an open and shut case. Annie

Obama has blatantly committed violations of the constitution. He should be impeached. Frankly, what Bachmann has done is small potatoes in comparison.

I'd say it was Bush and mostly the D1ck Cheney who made mincemeat of the Constitution. Annie

Annie, as far as contitutional violations go, both administrations have a pretty equal and hefty share of guilt, along with 90% of the 500 + in the Congress. Although you are on point with a fair ammount of your critisism towards the republicans and a lot of it is indeed deserved, I have yet to ever see you call out a single democrat (no, lieberman doesn't count) for the very same things. Why is this? Do you not believe they are equally as guilty in these usurptions, go arounds and circumventions? Incidentaly, Bachman may have broken house rules, *smack*, but she is one of the few that still at least believes in state soviergnty and constitutional government......even if she is a loon...
