Do you live in a house or in an apartment? Why?

I live in a house although it is a lot more expensive than living in an apartment. But in my country we have big earthquakes and I am not sure if I wouldn´t throw myself from the window if I was living in a high floor. Even in my two storied house, my bedroom is in the first floor. The earth quakes and I run to the garden. Do you live in a house or in an apartment. Do you have special need that made you take that decision? Share!

I live in an apartment. A small one on the ground floor, though it is slightly raised off ground level. It's small enough for one and big enough for two and Ilove it because it's cosy with a day area, a bedroom and a bathroom. I rent it and I moved here three years ago after I had to sell my own apartment after the firm that I worked for closed down and I was unemployed. At the time I was sad to lose my own place but now I am really pleased it turned out this way.

We have earthquakes here too but the area that I live in is not at a high risk like some of the others. I don't think about it happening as so many other things could happen too - like an explosion, a gas leak a plane crashing. The list is endless

Here we have very big ones. The 1960 one was the worst recorded by man. I was little and remembered it. I was very far from the epicentre but it was very big. I always think that if I´m careful, I won´t have problems with man depending issues. But you can´t fight against Nature. Have a nice day, friend! Palmbux is back

I wouldn´t mind living in an apartment such as the one you have. It seems I could run if the Earth began to tremble.

Hi M, We are living in a two-story apartment and hoping that next year we will be blessed with our new house and lot. We need to make sure that the area will not be prone to flood because our country is always suffering from typhoon/storm. I know you are aware of what just happened in our country-- those series of typhoon and flood killed so many people and destroyed so many houses, furniture, vehicles, etc.

I do hope your new house is all your dreams want it to be. Mother Nature behaves as a stepmother sometimes.Material things can be repaired with time but the loss of lives is terrible.

We are not affected by earthquakes to much in England thank goodness. We live in a house ,it is where we ended up.I would like to live in a garden flat but my husband will not live in a flat he likes his own front door and own land around him.So we will stay here for the next few years anyway.

I like my garden too. And when I´m streessed I start trasplanting or even watering the plants and I feel better.

I have lived in an apartment. I feel that apartment living is good for single or chidless couples. You don't have to worry about maintaining the gardens with majority of them. But it is not really good for kids who have so much energy. It is my opinion because I have lived in an apartment for 4 years of my first born child's life. He couldn't go outside without an adult around. He couldn't have a bike. Really, he couldn't do much except play indoors. My husband and I decided to move into a house because we had another child on the way. Today, I am so happy to be in a house. I think if I am old and on my own with no kids or husband, I probably wouldn't mind the apartment living again.

I understand what you mean, friend. I moved from a first apartment to a little house and then to a bigger one following my chidren´s needs. Now I live alovne but it is not so easy to move back to an apartment. And I like to be in a first floor because I´m very much afraid of earthquakes.

I live in an apartment at the moment. The reason is because we are only here temporarily and will be moving soon, so it was the only way we could go. It is cheaper (much cheaper) than buying a house, but then again you don't get anything - we are pretty much throwing our money out instead of investing in a house, but like I said, it is better for us at the moment.

I'm still living with my parents in their house, but I'd like to soon own my own apartment or condo. I just think that an increased sense of privacy and quietness would be nice lol. Not to mention, not having to mow a lawn would be nice.

I live in a house. I know it is more expensive than an apartment but I just want to live in a house. I don't want neighbors all around me that close and up and downstairs from me. If someone loud lived above me in an apartment I don't think I could handle it cause it would make me mad. My cousin lives in an apartment and she is all the time having problems with her upstairs neighbor. I just think it's better for me to live in a house.

Hubby and I live in an apartment. They are all single story and set up kind of like mini houses. We're on the end so we're kind of off by ourselves which makes it nice and quiet. We moved here b/c they are nice, well built and have a maintence man that takes care of all the yard work and things that may need to be fixed. Since Hubby is disabled he isn't able to do it himself. How comfortable does that sound! Many is the time I say "I need a man in my life" and people look at me with a weird face. I laugh and say I need a maintenance man.

I live in a house. There was no special need at the time when I moved here. In fact, I didn't have a choice in the matter. LOL 14 years and 2 kids later I wouldn't change any of it. And I certainly couldn't imagine going back to an apartment now. Happy mylotting!

I live in a two bedroom house which I bought four years ago. At that time I moved because my family were coming to live in the South West. My brother-in-law changed jobs. My house is on the edge of a coastal town and it overlooks the countryside. When I moved here I had one son and one dog. Then I got my second dog, my second son and my daughter. My toddler son is disabled so I should really try to move to a bungalow. Bungalows are pricey because they take up more land that a two story house. Hug.

Hi Marguicha, Firstly, I wish you good luck. Take care of yourself. I live in an apartment. The land is expensive here, so does the house and apartment. Only the native people and a few rich guy can afford of living in a house of their own. My hometown is in a village, where has lots of free land. Every family have their own house/building. I like that. Have a great day and happy posting.

Thanks for sharing, karen. It is different to live in a city than to live in a village. The city is more expensive and with more stress but that´s where the jobs and education are. Take care!

I've always lived in an apartment. It's common here in Hong Kong because it's how most of us live. I live in the city, too, so that's another factor. We choose to live in the city because of our jobs and it's more convenient, too. We don't get earthquakes here that are serious so it's still relatively safe to live in buildings. I wouldn't say I have a special need to live in the city. I think it's just more convenient to.

I live in an apartment with my husband and our baby girl. We are in the second floor. My husband bought it before he met me. The apartment is nice but not so big. Hoping for better economy in the next three years so we can sell it with a good price and then buy a house. I want to live in our own house so we can have our privacy, invite more friends, have a party all night long without someone who is knocking on our door and don't have to set a washing time.

Yes. That is one of the good things of having a house. I have some friends who bought a very elegant and expensive apartment but they can´t hammer a nail to put up a picture at certain times. In my house I can do as I please. I´m a night owl and many times I´m playing at the computer with some old songs vewry loud so I can sing with them. I can do that at 3 AM if I wish.

I'm a student, and I went from some islands to capital. There really is almost no way to live in a house here, because that'd be insanely expensive, being it such a big city. It's a fourth floor that I share with 4 other people, though it's kinda old and has no elevator. It's cheap though and isn't bad at all, so I'm pretty pleased.

My house is also paid, Jo. Still I have to pay some taxes to live here but they are not that big. The only problem is the my purse is skinny.. But I have a lovely garden and this year I hope to be able to save some in veggies as I´m making a VERU small vegetable garden (the size I can tend). Hug!

My husband and I live in a house that we have rented. We used to live in an apartment, it was a small place and we weren't allowed to keep pets, so when we found the house we were very happy. Our apartment was in a big city, and we live in the countryside now. It took a while for me to get used to the change, but now I enjoy living here. It is much more peaceful than the city and there is less pollution. We are allowed to keep pets here and that is very nice. In the future we want to buy a house, but we haven't found the right place yet.

Hi I live in apartment and really it the only choice for me at the moment. I am in the middle of a lease and I need to honor that lease to keep my credit in good standing. I would love to own a home someday but right now is not the best time for me or my family. I hope to be in my home in the next five years or so but it is gonna take a lot of hard work on my part and my soon to be husbands part. Happy mylotting to you and have good day as well.

I live in an apartment with five other people. Due to cost of housing where I live, it is difficult to find a place that you do not have to share with multiple people. Sometimes I like having the company, but usually I miss my privacy and my old apartment that I had all to myself.

I agree with you that at some places housing prices have gone up to the sky! That´s why I don´t dare leave my house and get a smaller and cheaper one. I would probably end up paying about the same.

I live in a house and this is my second house. Its a great investment that is why I have a house. I brought my first house for $129,000 and only put down $16,000 at closing. When I sold it 11 years later I sold it for $465,000 so that was a great investment. Now my second house I will not be making as much because I hope to sell it by next year and I would have owned the house only 3 years. However, I will get my money back and then some I hope. Alot of times a rental payment is equivalent to a mortgage payment. So for the same amount of money why not own it.

That was a good business! We made this house with the same purpose but I fell in love with it. So now I can´t get rid of it.
