i figure it's because they fear something. when people lie it's out of fear of something. whether it be fear of losing your relationship, or fear of losing your job, fear of going to jail. i figure with the amount of people that lie that probably means more than half the world are scaredy cats. what do you think

I know a few people whom I don't think they realize that they are telling lies it all comes so natural to them and I don't know why they bother because they always come unstuck in the end anyway...they forget what they have said to people...

i know plenty of people like that too. it has become a way of life for them. they say one thing today and then they say something totally different tomorrow. i think they look dumb. and i can't just stand by and listen to someone lie i have to call them out if i know they lying. i think that it might help them to contain their lies when they're around me. i have a zero tolerance policy for liars.

I was involved with a man once who swore he was "in love" with me and wanted to marry me. In the end all I got were lies and broken promises. I am nothing without my integrity and honesty is a very big deal with me. I can forgive many sins as long as a person is honest about it. When you lie to me, you mess with my sense of reality and that is the only thing that keeps me sane so when you lie to me, you basically are trying to drive me insane, which is pretty unforgivable in my book. It takes a lot to regain a trust once it is betrayed.

its hard for me to have a friend who always lie. and the hardest thing for me to solve is that she will tell something to me and then suddenly i will know to others that the thing she told before is not true :( i treat her like my best friend but she can't even trust me :( i know that our friendship will not work because from the start she can't even share some secrets :)

I think people lie because they are afraid that if they told the truth, they would get in trouble for it, so just like you said, a lot of people lie out of fear. Of course there are various reasons behind each lie in different situations so we can't really say every reason why but I do believe that a majority of the lies that are told are because the person is afraid. Also, I think that people lie because they are so use to it they just do it automatically without giving it a second thought. They just want to sound good or cool in some way and they know the truth won't give them that appeal so they exaggerate and end up lying about it. I do somewhat agree with what you said about half the people on Earth being 'scaredy-cats' because I also think that a majority of the people who do end up lying are scared of something so they make up a lie for it, however it's also not as if we aren't naturally afraid of something either. I mean, we are all afraid of something, whether it be spiders, heights or whatever it may be, so you might as well consider the whole world full of scaredy cats no matter who it is =]

People don't know the actual power of truth. People always tell lie because he thinks it is the easiest path and it has no effects. But if somebody tell a lie it effects others for a long period. I think telling truth is the best way to survive. Truth has tough path but who has already taken this path they never fails in his life. Nice discussion at all. Merry Christmas and Happy new Year.
