we take life for granted

i think a lot of people have death wishes. i smoke and i know the outcome of smoking but i still smoke. why is that? why do we want what's bad for us. why do we take life for granted? we do the things we know can kill us. we wanna count on the fact that if we were here yesterday that we will be here tomorrow, that's not the case. tomorrow isn't promised but we still make life altering decisions. why do we take life for granted and don't even think twice about it?
