Blackout or Short of Water Supply, Which is More Terrible?

Blackout - I like blackout for I could find a pretext for me to stop study. But if it is a short of water, it would be a mess in my world.

Have you ever had such an experience? The water supply was cut off when you were washing your hair. With your eyes stung and you yourself alone at home. In fact, now,the city will be paralysed immediately without water and electricity. Or have you been annoyed by this? When we were students and doing self-study in the evening, there was a blackout all of a sudden with the classroom in an uproar. There was nothing shiny within your reach; all you can do is to stay in the classroom wordlessly until the moment of brightness came. For me, I like blackout for I could find a pretext for me to stop study. But if it is a short of water, it would be a mess in my world. I guess I can't continue my daily life any longer without water supply. So, in your opinion, which is more terrible, blackout or short of water supply?

For me I would like to choose black out because we have candles and when morning comes we'll have light, unlike water supply, it's very important because it's one of our needs, just like what they say, we can live longer with water rather that having food only. Well, in our place if there's no electricity there would no water supply also, I don't know why, maybe because they are kind a related or connected?

Presumably your water is pumped to you with an electric pump so no electricity means no water.

I can live without electricity, but will find it harder to live without water. I prefer having no electricity over having no water. But here where I live, when there is no electricity, our water supply also gets disrupted.

Yes, compared short of water, I prefer having no electricity. For me, sometimes blackout means an interesting thing, but if it is a short of water, it would be a mess in my world. Water is the source of life. Without it, we may not continue our life any longer. So, water is the key of life and all things will be paralysed immediately without water supply.

Definately gotta have the water. We can survive without electricity. We can light candles for light, start a fire for warmth, get in the shade to cool off, but water is a basic need for life. Matter of fact, one can use wind, water, etc., to make electricity, but electricity does not make water.

Lack of water is worse. I can always light a candle or use a flashlight, but how do you deal with being soapy all over, especially if it's in your eyes, & there's no way to get it off?? No, give me darkness. That, I can handle! Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

I think a water shortage is the worst thing possible as far as I am concerned. Not being able to keep clean or wash laundry clear up mess, horrible. We have had water shortages before in England and don't want to go back to those days again.Black outs are dangerous if you are out and about in the dark. You can use torches and candles at home. But then you cannot turn the heating on,cook, use the fridge or washing machine, shower. We have has power cuts as well to cope with over the years. After all that it is water that would cause the most problems.

..Hi getbrowser, If you stay in the dark long enough, your eyes adjust and you start to discern things enough to get around. But lights out or electric out too long gets depressing and refrigerator food goes bad etc. But if you don't have water to drink, you can start to get in serious trouble, as you will dehydrate, and you could possibly die. So I would rather be in a blackout, if I had to choose because I don't think that is as life threatening as a blackout. Let's hope neither one occurs. Take care.

I agree that water is more important. We can light a candle if the electricity goes out and crawl under blankets if the heat is off, but we need water to drink and wash, so it is indispensable. People lived on the planet earth a long time before electricity was understood, but people cannot live without water.

Being without water would be awful for sure. A blackout would be scarey and cause alot of problems but unless it was for a long time it probably would hurt much. Going without water would be awfule for me. I have to have alot of water daily or I start feeling awful. Definitely shortage of water.

Definitely water. I go camping every year with no electricity. Water is a necesity. If I didn't have it, I could eventually die, no matter what the situation is otherwise.

Just like the others I have to say that I would prefer a blackout than a total water ban. Without electricity you can at least see during the day and use candles at night but without water not only there would be no showers but worse still we would die of thirst! Having no electricity would have repercussions in the long run but water is certainly more vital. I have experienced many power cuts and I remember not having water for half a day due to some work being carried out in our street and I can honestly say that I was at a real loss with a pile of dirty dishes by the time the water came back!

Short in water or no water at all is the MOST terrible thing that will happen to me, hahah I mean even just for an hour. It'll stall any of my movements like washing clothes, hands, taking a bath, washing dishes etc. Black out is hassle too but unlike with no water I think I'll go with black out instead of the other. though I can't use many of my things and no fan for sleeping. hahaha ^_^ Enjoy mylot!

It would be hard to live without electricity as we have become very dependent on it but we could live without it. Having no water would be terrible because we need water for many things such as drinking, bathing, cooking, washing clothes to name just a few.

I will say water because I can stand the heat by making a fan paper or mosquitoes or any bugs that come out at night when there is power failure by using mosquitoes coils, but without water I can't stand if I could not take a bath and especially when we need to the big business! It would be a mess and not hygienic. And, I need water to drink, cook, do laundry etc. However, I guess hospitals and airports really do find it's terrible if there's no electricity.

Water supply shortage is worse because the lack of electricity won't kill you and can't kill you. Water shortage can. The shortage of water supply can bring on diseases, not to mention the risk of dehydration so I think it's more terrible.

It is a miserable state when there is no water and no electricity either. Just like you I'd prefer to just lose the electricity but not water if there is really no choice. Of course I want both but if given the only choice, water is what I'd choose. It would be hard to have no water to wash my body and all my clothes and all the pots and pans. I can't last a life without water to drink of course and no water for my plants as well. That would be a real tough life even for just a day. The trouble however with today's technology is that whenever there is no electricity, there is also no water. It seems like it is the electricity that is also running the water. That is the situation in our place, I just don't know with other places. This is the reason why it is important to have an artesian well or pump at home. That can assure continuous supply of water even without electric power.

Getbrowser- I believe old George Carlin stated this one pretty well in his later sketches. If we had a loss of electricity it wouldn't take very long for the entire world to shut down. Everything in our country, the US for the point of the sketch, runs on electricity. That includes our water systems. Meaning, if the electric goes for longer then generators, we're screwed. So, I wouldn't want to be without either, but certainly not electricity here in the united states. Though, most survivalist pages suggest having water stock piled in case of such emergency. I'm afraid our small apartment doesn't allow me to have one, though I'm thinking of turning one of the front closets into a pantry. Have a great weekend. Namaste-Anora

Where I live, the two go together. We have a well instead of public water, so if we do not have electricity, then we do not have water, either. Therefore, I think the blackout is probably worse. However, if our well ran dry, then that would definitely be worse than a blackout, because blackouts do not usually last very long and it would depend upon the weather to determine how long it would be before our well filled up again.

I can survive without electricity but not without water. It would be a big mess if we have shortage of water because water is very important like air. We use water in all the things that we do. We drink it, we use it for cooking, we use it for cleaning our body, and dishes. Having shortage of water is really terrible because since the beginning of earth, water is really present unlike electricity, we can survive without it.

Just by the fact that 75% (if I'm not mistaken) of our body is water, water shortages might as well spell doom for us living beings. I have never tried not drinking water for a whole day. The people of long ago were able to live without the use of electricity, and by all means, so can we. You can still beat the boredom when it's blackout by talking with whoever you are with. As for the hot weather, there's always a hand fan. So, by all means, a shortage of water supply would be really terrible, compared to a mere black out.

I will choose water than electricity. Water is a necessity as electricity is but we cannot leave a day without it. All of us will feel very dehydrated and weak. two to three days without it we will surely die, unlike electricity, we can survive that even for months... But of course I don't want to live a life without it too. Let us not go back to past...
