PayPal Question

Is it safe to leave money in your PayPal account? I generally move it to our checking account when it's available to transfer. I don't use my PayPal account to buy items online but would rather send a personal check or use a credit card. Have only bought two items online over the years and both transactions went very well.

Am thinking in terms of someone confiscating the money by getting into the account. Didn't know how safe it was or is to leave money in the account. Thanks for responding.

I have the money safe there for the ten months or so. And hence I have nothing to doubt about their credibility.

Thanks so much for the information. I wouldn't question PayPal but others out there that are able to get into the account and withdraw. Really referring to hackers who know their stuff.

I receive payments from clients on my paypal account, at any given time I could have several hundred dollars in there and I have never had a problem with money missing or taken. I have had my account for many years and have used it for everything

Thanks so much for the great feedback. I know PayPal is a reliable, trustworthy site. I will let the few extra dollars I have in the account right now sit and not do a transfer until the amount increases.

Have you considered getting the paypal debit card? I love my debit card and then I have access to my money in my paypal account when I am out shopping and I don't have to worry about transferring the funds to my bank account. It is great you need to look into it

I don't own a debit card but it's worth thinking about if I had enough money in my PayPal account. Good idea.

I have left money in my Paypal account before. I do not think it was in there for longer than a month though. I am afraid to leave my money online because of the hackers stealing it at random from people.

This was always an issue with me. Hackers know their stuff. Pretty sad in my opinion. Thanks, Steph, for responding.

I learned a long time ago that until it's in my bank account anything can happen to it. So, when I get money in PayPal, I pull it out right away. Better to do that then risk it "disappearing". ~~I AM WHO I AM~~ **STANDING STRONG IN MY BELIEFS**

I have always done the same thing, twoey. I know the site is valid but it's the hackers I worry about. There are ways to get into any account. Thanks for responding.

One should never have a problem with Hackers per say, Only if you slip and give someone your password. Never respond to a link in an email that you didn't request and you should be ok. Hi Towey, I see that they have found and corrected the error on the star rating.

Yes, that's a good idea! And what I do, is I only keep a small amount of money in my paypal account, just enough to buy something just in case I need to, but not enough to consider it a big loss! I signed up for the paypal account, that pays interest on the money you have there, so for the last 3 yrs, I have been making interest on the money I have in there! I occasionally use my paypal account, especially for e-bay, and various other places I shop! I've never had any problems with them, but like I said, if I did, it would only be a small loss!

I have a small amount in the account now but nothing to worry about. Don't know how many bank transfers I can do each month since I have a free account. Thanks so much for responding.

I think it is..I leave mine in there until there's a good amount then transfer...I did use my paypal to buy a college book for my DIL for school and just used what I had in my account....and all went well.

Think I will let my itty bitty amount sit for awhile in the PayPal account. I haven't had any problems at all transferring the money to our personal checking account. Thanks for responding, Jill.

Hi Carolbee I have done this now for 5 years and have never had a Problem Paypal is very secure the only thing you need to know is if you ever get an Email from "Paypal" stating you are to send them your Details do not respond send it to spoof Paypal as they will never ask you for anything like that But yes I will say it is quite secure

I am well aware of those spoof emails from PayPal. It happened once in the past and I made a big mistake. PayPal told me they will ALWAYS address their emails to the individual account name. They will never say Dear Member. Thanks for responding.

I don't leave much in either. I suppose it's as safe as anything online, but I usually need the money, so it doesn't say in for long. This will be interesting to find out what other people say.

PayPal itself is a reliable company and safe. Hackers concern me since they know how to withdraw from the account. Thanks for responding.

So far I have no problems with Paypal. I have some money in there for a few months already, but at some point I have this feeling that what if one day I wake up only to find my accounts balance is zero! Anyway, the reason why I let the money in there because I don't want to withdraw many times as they will deduct $5 for the withdrawal fees.

Thanks for the reminder about the withdrawal fees. I totally forgot. I have a small balance now and will leave it for awhile. Know what you mean. Hackers have such a good time playing games with other people and their personal information and money. Thanks for responding.

I have left money in paypal before and it is ok. I only use it when I need money for something. I am trying to make money so I can buy a few gifts for my husband for Christmas. I am not sure of that many sites that take personal checks. I know paypal used to take money orders for payments, but now most do not. It will be fine. Paypal is very safe.

I agree that PayPal itself is very safe. Only worry about hackers since they have nothing better to do! Good idea to use PayPal as a savings account for Christmas. Thanks for responding.
