Is it safe to leave money in your PayPal account? I generally move it to our checking account when it's available to transfer. I don't use my PayPal account to buy items online but would rather send a personal check or use a credit card. Have only bought two items online over the years and both transactions went very well.

I receive payments from clients on my paypal account, at any given time I could have several hundred dollars in there and I have never had a problem with money missing or taken. I have had my account for many years and have used it for everything

Have you considered getting the paypal debit card? I love my debit card and then I have access to my money in my paypal account when I am out shopping and I don't have to worry about transferring the funds to my bank account. It is great you need to look into it

I have left money in my Paypal account before. I do not think it was in there for longer than a month though. I am afraid to leave my money online because of the hackers stealing it at random from people.

I learned a long time ago that until it's in my bank account anything can happen to it. So, when I get money in PayPal, I pull it out right away. Better to do that then risk it "disappearing".

One should never have a problem with Hackers per say, Only if you slip and give someone your password. Never respond to a link in an email that you didn't request and you should be ok.
Hi Towey, I see that they have found and corrected the error on the star rating.

Yes, that's a good idea! And what I do, is I only keep a small amount of money in my paypal account, just enough to buy something just in case I need to, but not enough to consider it a big loss! I signed up for the paypal account, that pays interest on the money you have there, so for the last 3 yrs, I have been making interest on the money I have in there! I occasionally use my paypal account, especially for e-bay, and various other places I shop!
I've never had any problems with them, but like I said, if I did, it would only be a small loss!

Hi Carolbee
I have done this now for 5 years and have never had a Problem
Paypal is very secure the only thing you need to know is if you ever get an Email from "Paypal" stating you are to send them your Details do not respond send it to spoof Paypal as they will never ask you for anything like that
But yes I will say it is quite secure

I don't leave much in either. I suppose it's as safe as anything online, but I usually need the money, so it doesn't say in for long. This will be interesting to find out what other people say.

So far I have no problems with Paypal. I have some money in there for a few months already, but at some point I have this feeling that what if one day I wake up only to find my accounts balance is zero!
Anyway, the reason why I let the money in there because I don't want to withdraw many times as they will deduct $5 for the withdrawal fees.

Thanks for the reminder about the withdrawal fees. I totally forgot. I have a small balance now and will leave it for awhile. Know what you mean. Hackers have such a good time playing games with other people and their personal information and money. Thanks for responding.

I have left money in paypal before and it is ok. I only use it when I need money for something. I am trying to make money so I can buy a few gifts for my husband for Christmas. I am not sure of that many sites that take personal checks. I know paypal used to take money orders for payments, but now most do not. It will be fine. Paypal is very safe.
