I just recently discovered this superstition from my friend grandmother who is very superstitious person.
"It is considered unlucky to open an umbrella indoors". Her explanation goes like some people believe that if there is a sick person indoors, opening an umbrella indoors will make them sicker. Strangely, it is not considered to bring an already open umbrella in and leaving it open to dry.
Do you knew of any superstition belief and do you believe in them?

I think superstitious beliefs are just the result of the wide imaginations of our grandfathers. Whether we believe it or not if you just follow them. It's like feng shui, it's been the tradition already that is why many are following them because maybe it is true but the most important thing that you should bear in mind is your full TRUST to God who made all things possible in this world.

No I'm not really superstitious. But when someone asks me to be careful on things or situation there is, because of their superstitious belief I don't mind obeying or following their advices because, I find nothing wrong with that after all. Like my grandma who believes in a lot of superstition...hehe! I just take her advices. Like a black cat that passes on the street and you have to avoid them, broken glasses, friday the 13th...etc.. oh there are bunch of stories about it which I got from her. (which are totally funny at times) But you know, everything in this world can possibly happen whether in event or in presence of these superstitions... As they say if you believe a certain thing might happen the more possibility it will..it is like "mind power". So I better not believe in that, but I am open minded to things.... Nice topic you got here.
Happy Lotting!

I am not a superstitious person. I never believed in it. I used to live in China but I never thought it is true. I think supertitious people is ok because it is the same as believing in god.

Hello Fulltank this is checkmail and am fifty- fifty in this case of superstition, as many a times it tends to be true as well as nothin happens.Earlier in my childhood there were many incidences that actually happened because of something, like cat crossing our way, dogs crying like wolfs, food getting spoiled while cooking, etc.Yeah in todays world we can call it an coincidence.

My grandmother is very superstitious, and when I was a child she often talked about the things which were supposed to bring bad luck. She also considers it bad luck to open an umbrella inside the house, but she never told me why. She would never walk under a ladder or sit at a table where there are 13 people. She thinks that 13 people at the same table means that one of the people will die within a year. She also considers it bad luck to look at people's hands, and she thinks that someone is going to die if you look at people's hands.
I am not as superstitious as my grandmother, but I always remember the things she told me and I can't help thinking about the things that she told me, because she has been a big part of my life.

Nope, I have never been a superstitious type of person. I do know some people that are they sure do crazy things and tell me all about the superstitious stuff. I think its just plain foolishness on their part for believing it.

I am superstitious, but even though this I am not afraid of walking underneath a ladder or breaing mirrors. If you believe in these activities providing you with some sort of bad luck, it will most likely do just that.

I am lightweight superstitious. Its only because my family is very superstitious. I'd have to say most Filipino families are superstitious haha =]. I personally don't believe in the superstitions but I do get creeped out a bit by them.

I though it was only unlucky if you put the open umbrella over your head whilst indoors.
I believe in superstitions.
Like if you say good-bye to a friend on a bridge you will never see each other again, or if the first butterfly you see in the year is white then you will have good luck all year.
Seriously I'm full of them xD

I used to believed in them when I was a kid but, of course, it diminishes once I grew up.But,in some situations i used to believe in superstitions. For example,i select best date and time for doing any new or good thing.
There are many superstitions about numbers in the world. The number 13 is
considered unlucky in almost all countries. In Brazil and Colombia, Friday the 13th is a bad and dangerous day. . The number 4 is considered a bad number in Korea. And the number 7 is considered a bad number in Peru. However, 5 and 7 are considered a most holy and lucky number in many countries.
Some people believe that all dreams have some meaning. Sometimes, when you are dreaming, you can receive messages about your life or your future. If you dream about your wedding then you need take care because someone will die in your family. The same thing happens when you are dreaming about losing a tooth. However, if you dream that you are dying or taking a shower in clean water, it's a good dream because your life will improve.
Another popular superstition is about animals. Some people believe that if a black cat crosses your path it's a bad signal. You need to go back and take another way.

If I am not mistaken, we cannot use the umbrella inside the house. Using umbrella means, we cannot open the umbrella and place it on top of our head. That's what I heard. So if we open the umbrella and bring it inside the house, it should be ok. But I can't remember the reason. I guess the reason should be the same like yours.
I also heard that we cannot cutting our nails in the night and the parent is not allowed to cut their children's hair. So you need to bring your children to barber shop, event though, the parent has the skill to do the haircut by themselves.
I don't know whether I need to believe it or not. Since it is not a harm for me to follow it, so I just try not to break it

Well let me put it this way, there is a part of me that does not believe but I decide not to chance it so I don't walk under laters, and don't unbrellas inside. If I break a mirror I get extra upset. I guess I just really don't like to chance things even if I know in my heart and mine that they are most likely not eal and nothing to worry about, but why chance it.
