How organized are you?

I can say sadly that I am not organized at all. We have a small house, too many people, too much stuff.... and last but not least kids who cannot leave anything that is not theirs ALONE! Everything ends up everywhere it shouldn't be. I'm trying to keep things going but it's not always easy when it's all one person.... me usually & upon occasion hubby (who's better at it than me btw) I also think if we have less stuff we'd be doing better but I'm working on that little by little.

Sounds a lot like my house! Things that I don't want the kids to touch gets thrown in my bedroom, which is so small to begin with, I can never find anything I'm looking for. Hopefully in a few months time we'll be back into our house with plenty of space! Not that that will help... kids will still be kids!

I hear ya we've even tried putting various locks on the door because they have no respect for the word "NO" especially if it's something they really want like candy ect. If they know there's something good in there someone's always in there pilaging in the dressers for candy. GRRR! Or if they don't like what's on the living room tv they think they can just set up camp in our bed.

That's one of our problems as well too much stuff & not enough room. I did have some stuff ready for rummage but since no one will help me cause I can't run a rummage & chase after 3 kids on my own I'm starting to donate stuff. I hate to cause I could use the money even if it's just change ya know? But I guess "paying it forward" is better than tossing it into the trash.

I'm quite organized. I hate not being organized because it drives me crazy. I need things to have their own places because I like being able to find our items easily. I hate not knowing where my things are one minute to the next because I like being able to just go and pick up something. I hate things that aren't organized because it makes a home look cluttered.

i'd say i have organized clutter.
not for not wanting to get rid of stuff..but i have to do it on the sly because the second i go to get rid of something, they want it no matter how long it's been collecting dust.

I am a very organized person because I do not want to have myself looking for lost things that are supposed to be where they are. I do a lot of cleaning and organizing to achieve that "perfection" but I just can't seem to do it what with the messy and indifferent family and in-law I have. I have the biggest problem with my in-law. There was this one instance when I did a "grand general cleaning" for almost five days because of the great dirt, dust, and clutter that found their residency in our house. It took me five days to clean every nook and cranny of the house and only 6 hours for my in law to pile up another clutter. It's really frustrating

I've been decluttering. I find that a lot of people think I am organized when it is really a matter of doing a lot of stuff. I replace working smart with working hard.

I'm pretty organized as to the extent of piling money in order as from higher value to the lesser value. My cds are organized as from genre to genre. But I agree with you, my kids are wild with their stuff. They just leave it anywhere. However, we still try to teach them to be as proper as possible by teaching my children to fix their toys after playing. It works though.

This is not really good for kids because they can't learn how to be organized and it could affect them in many ways even in thier studies, try to remove the things you don't need so you can organizise the things you have and always ensure your children pick up thier toys and clean up after they play

Organization can take you a long way. It is important to be organized for work, and even for ensuring that eveything at home goes smoothly. Also the more orgainzed you are the cleaner you will be. I am highly organized at work which results in getting the most out of my job and at home the same applies.

I used to keep everything in my house before. I was such a scavenger for old clothes, old toys, old shoes, old books. But eversince I read an article about how to fengshui your life, I learned how to de-clutter my place. I make it a point every year that I clean our closet. I gather some of our old clothes and give them away to our local church here or to our Local Government Labor Office. I also taught my nephews to donate their old toys and other McDonalds-value-meal-toys to less fortunate children. I also learned to give away some of my old love-stories-novel books (as much as it broke my heart to part with them) to other women who may want to read them. De-cluttering our space will give us peace of mind, enough breathing space and will help us be ready to welcome new things in life.

I know and feel your pain! I am the worlds worst at Organizing!! I took a test on Facebook the other day that said i have OCD because I love clutter although I know exactly the place where everything is. For example in my bathroom I have some lotions, hair product, and so on and it would not look like anything special to anyone but I know where each and every little thing goes and I know when someone has moved something. My bathroom is never too clean but I put things where I want them. I love making collages of picture but I am very particular about what goes where. For some reason i do that all through out my days. There is other things that I do but they have nothing to do with the subject but they are just so weird.
So I live with my future mother in law who is the most organized person ever! Her spices, magazines, clothes, office, kitchen and even dirty clothes are organized!! It bothers me because nothing is how I would have my own house. The pictures on the wall in the living room are the worst, they have no pattern or order to them at all and it really bothers me when I look at them. Her dishes are in a very weird order and so on. So I am now trying to keep things a little more organized although so many things in this house bugg me all day long. I am working on it too my friend.

Oh, I agree to that. I can say I am not organised at all. But at times, i do tend to be organised. When it comes to my desktop, anyone will know the extent I could be organised. It is practically a mess. and yes, I should say when I am living with others, I tend to be very organised. It is just when you get alone, and when you are busy with life and studies, you do not have enough time to deal with organising yourself day and night. Atleast that do not work out for me!

I know of that feeling. I am not organised at all in my own home. I live with my hubbie, and 2 kids. Hubbie drinks and leaves cans all over the place. He reads mail and puts them on my lounge chair. He won't put his clothes away. He won't put rubbish in the bin. So here I am chasing after him.
My children both are the same. They refuse to clean up their rooms. They come out to the lounge room to leave all their stuff around. I am chasing after them too.
As for myself, the work that I do does create a mess at home as half of my work is working from home, does my family ever chase after me. No
I have a special place for shoes, but my family will not put their shoes in the special place. I have a little remote control caddy to keep the remote controls neat and tidy, but they always ends up being on the arm of my hubbies lounge chair.
I, like you are all but 1 person. It is hard to keep a small house clean when others just keeps messing it up. I try and get things organised, but they mess it up.

I love to be organized it just makes life easier to live. Cludder is just suffocating to me. The best way to get organized is to tackle one room at a time. That is get rid of all the stuff you don't need or want from one room. Then go back and clean, dust and vacuum and maybe rearrange the room. Then you go to the next room and so on and so on. You need to tell the other members of the house to keep things in order. If you use something put it back where it belongs. Its so much easier if everyone worked together to be organized in the family.

Im very organized. So is my boyfriend. My parents, however, are another story. They just CAN'T keep anything organized. I mean, yes, for a while but nothing ever stays that way. I usually try to find ways to help them organize their stuff but most of it fails because they dont put things where they belong.
I don't have kids so I can keep my stuff organized. My boyfriend is the same so we live together and get along just fine. We both know where our stuff is whenever we need it. Our things are organized well, so it's usually easy to tell when someone has been messing around or snooping around.
