I do have a friend before who loves to talk about her day every time she got home. And sometimes I'm busy doing something, such as reading or doing research then she sits just down with me and start talking and often I stop what I'm doing and listen to her. It annoys me most of the time.
How about you, what would you do when someone sits down and start talking while you're busy doing something? Is it right?

Hi careguarden, I live with my sister and we are both avid readers but she also has two little kids. We are both used to interruptions but when it is with either one of us, we will call each other on it. Usually, one of us will simply hold up the book and point to it without saying a word. We get the hint. If the book is extra exciting, sometimes a general announcement such as "I am at the most exciting part of the book, please do not come near me until I am finished" will deter all family members from interrupting. If an interruption is persisted, then it must be a true emergency and allowances are granted. We take our reading very seriously (smile).

Hello linamachina,
Well it's your sister and you're close with her so there must be no problem when it comes to interrupting, since you two know each other and knows when is okay and not to disturb each other. I do the same thing with my sister. I know when she want to talked or not being disturb. We can even read our body language.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Keep engage yourself in your activity. Just act like listening, but be quiet. Slowly she will reduce this continuous FM radio. You will feel relaxed and may get more involved in your activity.
