I did once, when we were visiting my mom's tongan relatives. They had roasted it in a pit dug in the ground all day and the smell was just about making me go crazy when they finally said that it was all done. I don't think I've ever eaten more in my life!

I love roasted pig! I do agree that Cebu has the yummiest lechon ever that is why lechon cebu is very famous. Its skin is very crunchy and tasty. Talking about this already makes me hungry and my mouth water.lol. I think it has already been months since i last ate lechon...=(

though i haven't tasted the lechon cebu yet, but i know it's famous. even in manila, they order lechon from cebu because they say it is indeed delicious.
however, in my place, i do make a homemade lechon. i supervised in stuffing spices and other ingredient inside the stomach of the pig, before it is sewn to ensure a very taste meat. and on the process of roasting, still, i am present to see to it that it is well done. and i tell, i can make my own very delicious lechon, that pass thru my QC lol...
thanks for sharing. cheer!

I don't know if same thing or not, but I got the chance to go to Hawaii back in the 80's and we was invited to eat with a group and they had roast pig that was cooked in a pit in the ground. I think it was the smell that I will never forget, the meat was tender and really was good. I know it is getting to be a regular thing around football time here or big events that people are celebrating.

the sauces becomes more delicious because it came from the inner juice of the pig, and mixed with various spices stuff in the stomach, that produces a very delicious sauce. You seemed to have great discipline though, because me, i really submit to temptation when faced with it.. i forgot that i am not diet ahahahaha.... take care..

sure, many times already. what I like in it is the softness of the meat. while looking on it with its crispy reddish skin it is like inviting you to eat it.

Here in my place. In Cebu City, Philippines we have the best Lechon.
Every occasion, we have the Lechon. Love the crispy skin as they call it "Panit." It is delicious because of the species inside the stomach. And it was cook on the charcoal and the pig was rolled over.
