what's your idea of a perfect boss?do you like your boss to be that great?these are some questions that's bothering me once. i don't really need a perfect boss but one that can understand and knows how to empathize with his employees. What is your idea of “the perfect boss”? Mine is this: someone who uplifts you, serves as a mentor, always has your back, lets you do your thing without micromanaging, supports you in everything you do, gives credit where credit is due, lavishes praise when warranted, has a kind heart and a good sense of humor, and encourages professional development and growth. My boss is opposite of all of those things, AND HE’S NOT RETIRING!

My Boss as a person is a nice guy... however, when it comes to his job, i should say he needs to attend some training sessions in how to manage his team. From the first day of my work with him, i noticed that his existing team does not have a good process meaning all of them are not satisfied with the way the boss running his team. I tried to lead the team when my boss is not around and i got some good feedback from them. But the outcome is not that good to me because i'm doing a lot things that supposedly the boss things..and now i felt that i need to find a new job as the scenario will never change as long as the boss is the leader.

I consider myself lucky as all my bosses were good people. I mean, they're all well-mannered, educated, know how to lead, know how to get along with people, know how to make their directors and employees happy. Except, this year I haven't got my salary increase yet!!! Okay, I'll forgive him this time, and pass up this year because of the recession we had earlier. I'll give him a chance until January 2010, or else!!

Well, I think that your wish list of the "perfect boss," is great. I'm not sure where you would find such a person. Bosses are after all, just human. Humans make mistakes. I'm the "boss" where I work and I hope my employees think that I'm fair, interested in there personal development, and communicates well. I know that some of my employees do not think so, but I have a mission to accomplish and that should always come first. Without the completion of mission, then there would not be jobs for the employees to complain about. :) I retire next year and will be looking for another job soon.

My boss is a nice guy. He's kind, caring, understanding and hard working. The one thing I don't like about him is he has the tendency to write people off sometimes without thinking. I don't think that's good for business because we should never underestimate what a person can do for us. Apart from that, he has the tendency to be very stubborn that we get into trouble sometimes. It's not anything that's too serious but it causes inconveniences that could've been avoided.

Lol! i like the last part. lol! well my boss doesn't mind the time so i always end up spending my time, over time! i should be home by 5pm but he could just shrug it off then give me some things to do. despite it all, he's a good boss overall. he's professional but he's the approachable type. I can't say he's giving praises but who knows, he could just be keeping it for himself for future evaluation. i guess i can say i'm lucky to have a boss like him because for sure there's someone worse out there giving hell.

My boss is kindly, humorous but he isn't talented. He isn't talented in his professional. Also he didn't know what the current situation is in his Department, and I opine that he is trying to avoid taking responsibility. That's the reason why a lot of my colleagues want to resign, as well as me. Michael

Wow,this an interesting topic to discuss...I am a software engineer from India...Here the IT sector is booming and people are becoming more and more shrewd to earn money....Well I just left a company(TCS) to join IBM.Now the boss in TCS i faced was the worst anyone can....First of all he doesn't have a social life and has tremendous family problems....he just needs to earn and save money(god noes for whom)....He is such a miser that he never pays after his meals....He'll take any of the juniors with him and ask him to pay for him.....And the worst is he has got so accustomed to these free meals that he'll never go for lunch if he couldn't manage a victim that day.....He keeps shouting at people without any reasons and never tries to understand the cause.....he was such a pain....and i request all those people here not to be anything like him.....I think a boos should be considerate and friendly.....
