Brand minded refers to consumers who patronize branded products. Their purchasing decisions are extremely influenced by brand names such as gucci, chanel, lacoste, mulberry, levis, l'oreal, prada, ecco and so on. Both men and women are brand minded, I guess. It only appears that women demand more because they need to have make-ups or feminine stuffs for themselves. Ofcourse, branded things cost a lot. It is a luxurious way of spending money, but if you can afford to buy branded items, why not? Above all, it is best if people just not for the purpose of flaunting or bragging about those things.
How about you, are you a brand minded person? What brand do you like most?

Hello, rhayde29! Yes, you are right. Btw, I'm a Filipina so I know the trend with branded products. There are imitations which hard to identify from originals. So sad, if someone buys the fake one with the cost of the original. :(
And yes, people become brand minded in the Philippines, but not so much in the remote places. I think, mostly from people in urban areas and those who are in the middle and upper classes. :)

I like the branded products, because the branded companies gives us a good product and it always come with a guaantee or warrantee.I dont mind to pay little extra for a quality branded product. I dont think that we are spending luxuriously while we are buying a qualty branded products, rather we spending it wisely

Hello, mdvarghese! Thank you for sharing your ideas. Yes, you have your point. Companies behind those big names are spending too much for research and development of their products. They make sure that the quality compensate the cost. Yes, purchasing branded product is a way of spending money wisely. But, if some people don't have enough money, I think, buying unbranded things is also a way of spending their money wisely.

I'm a guy and most guys that i know would not care what brand they're wearing. As long as it looks good, affordable, comfortable, then it's good. Besides we only shop like once a month of not even. But if i have to choose what i brand i like, i would go for CK, Armani and Diesel. Btw, are you a brand minded person? What brand do you like the most?

Hello, Jarred! wow, you have a good choice of brands. About me, it depends upon my budget. :) If I have more money, I am super brand minded person. Hahah! Sometimes, when I don't have enough money, i try to save so I can buy those expensive things. For make-ups, I like maxfactor, l'oreal, maybelline, dior, clinique, rimmel, etc. In terms of apparels and clothing, I like Chanel, Prada, LV, Ecco, DKNY, D&G, Diesel, Gucci and so on. For perfume, I like lacoste, Chanel, Dior, etc. There are more, but it will take too long to mention them all. :)

I guess because I'm a guy. I am not a branded minded person. You're right about women being more brand mind because I have seen women with brand merchandise like purses, shoes, necklaces, etc. I guess the brand item I would buy if I could, I would buy running shoes by Nike. Because they would last longer than no name running shoes.

Hello, nijolechu! Yes, both men and women are brand minded, in their own special ways. Guys usually look for quality when buying things. I said that because my husband, father, brothers and boy friends tend to buy branded products. As we know, most of high quality items are those with popular brand names.

I was never really one to get stuck on name brands. My philosophy has always been if that something appealed to me, i stuck with it. If it just happened to be a name brand, that was just the luck of the draw.

I suppose some sort of status comes with wanting the expensive brand names, however I just cannot afford them. Even if I won $50 million like the Canadian lottery latest winner, he says he will still shop at Wal-Mart. I think I would too.

Hello, mariposaman! Yes, branded products cost a lot. During my younger years, I am not aware of brand names. I always choose products which are cheap, but of course, the with good style and design. Well, this is somehow due to communication media, such as television, radio and internet that promote various brand names every single minute. Well, we can always be happy with all the things even if they're not branded.

I have to shamelessly say YES, I am definitely brand-minded or whatever that term is. I love high fashion, and I only wish I could afford it. I still buy semi-expensive clothes, though, my favorite brands are Juicy Couture and INC, and otherwise I usually shop at "better" specialty shops like Banana Republic and The Limited and Hollister (a strange combination, I know!) I'm also a thrift store junkie, and I usually can find really good brand names there for super cheap, too. They're usually 1 or 2 seasons old at that point, but who cares? If you think it's cute, you might as well go for it. I'm a little split when it comes to brands though. I have no problem wearing something from Wal-Mart or Target, but I'm not going to lie - when I wear a brand-name..I feel better about myself. Maybe because I essentially grew up shopping in thrift stores and at Wal-Mart and so now I splurge on occasion to make up for the time lost. . I don't know. I am open-minded. I like clothes that have a good style to them, but also have quality - whether they be from Target or Neiman Marcus!

I agree with you, maezee. For me, it really feels good whenever I am wearing branded clothes or whenever I bought branded accessories, bags, shoes, etc. But not all the time, for they are expensive. There are times when I rather chose the cheap ones over the branded items. Although the quality is not so good, they have the styles and designs which I really like.

Depends on what it is. For most items I shop at Walmart, Kmart, or Target. Or get store brands of items. I am guilty for this when it comes to makeup. I want to look my best, but I do not go to the Department stores for the really expensive brands. I usually buy my makeup at Rite Aid.

Hello! Thank you for your response. Yes, sometimes it depends on the type of products. When I went to college, I started using some make-ups with brand names such as l'oreal, maxfactor, clinique, Dior, Maybelline and so on. They were expensive, so I tried to save some from my allowance just to have some of those. That was a part of the fashion trend in the school and I don't want to be out-dated. Funny but that's part of the reality.

It really depends on the culture where you grew up. I came from one society where brands are put in such high regard that even myself, I found that most of my clothes are all branded. I think it is because branded stuff are relatively cheaper in Asia. After I moved to north america, I have since learned to disregard brand and focus on quality.
Thankfully, I am all grown up that I don't need too much clothes. The other branded accessories I still get from relatives back home.

Hi, Bounce58. Yes, the culture and lifestyle can also be the factors of wanting products with brand names. People who live in remote places or characterized as the lower class in the society do not care about these branded products. Those people who are in the upper class are mostly the consumers of these brand names.
One more thing, branded products become a good choice as a present or gift, nowadays. So, most of our friends, relatives and family members tend to give something that are branded.
