A yet unnamed man in Texas was watching a Pelican flying across the road & reaching for his dropped cell phone at the same time. He drove his 2006 Bugatti Veyron valued at $1.25 million into a salt Marsh. He joked that salt ain't good for anything. My guess is that the car is ruined. Robin Williams once said that purchasing cocaine is God's way of telling you you have too much money. I think NOT cherishing a million dollar car is much along the same line. I can't imagine having so much money that I didn't even attempt to take care of a million dollar car!!! Assuming you're much like me & couldn't afford one to begin with, do you think you would be so careless???

To be honest i would take more care of a car i payed only $50 for as i definately have to watch the money i spend. Some people in this world i think have too much money and it all goes to waste i think, if they just helped poor people with a fraction it would get put to a better use than they could ever think of as the poorer you are, the more conscious about how you use your money you are and the more you respect money.

I agree. Instead of buying a million dollar car, I'd buy a $5,000 car & give the rest to a family that could really use it!!! And I'd TAKE CARE of my car!!!

Well, for one thing I certainly wouldn't waste my money on something like a stupid car! Think how many children $1.25 million can feed, how many parents can go to college and learn a good skill. But yes, I would take care of it. The man might not have ever had to work for it, his behavior is typical of people who have things handed to them all their lives. When you have to work for what you have, you're very careful with it!

You're correct. I've worked 2 & 3 jobs for every luxury I've ever bought!!! Working for it does give it a LOT MORE meaning!!! Just having it handed to you diminishes the value. He was even sitting on it like a spoiled brat!!!

In commenting to the various responses, I'm beginning to wonder if he didn't do it on purpose so he could get a new car. Maybe he tired of this one & Mummy wouldn't buy him a new one. So, he ditched it in the marsh so the salt water would ruin it & the insurance company would pay for their part & his Mum the balance.

Well, from what I've seen of ppl, the more money they have the more irresponsible they are. Either he has so much money that losing $1.25 million doesn't bother him (therefore he can simply go buy a new car) or his family has money (and he'll simply buy another car) or he could be like some money maniacs and have 2 or 3 more equally expensive cars sitting at home waiting for him.
I know I'd take care of something that expensive if I had it but I probably wouldn't have it. I'd rather use the money to start up a food bank, a homeless shelter or a dog/cat santuary. There's millions of places that the money could benefit other than filling one's ego.

I find it interesting that all us broke folk say we will use that kind of money to help others instead of splurging on ourselves!!! I would buy a decent car...NOT necessarily a new car. I love my house, so NO need to replace it. I've made jokes about buying a mountaintop & building a house there & filling the property with well trained Dobermans daring anyone to visit, but I WAS KIDDING!!! I could live on the interest of that kind of money. I would become a benefactor to my favorite help center, choose a worthy family or two to help, set up a scholarship fund for some worthy recipients, or something else along those lines!!!

No I find it a little bit to eccentric for me to drive around in a million dollar car. Cars only serve one purpose and that is to haul us around so we can get from point A to point B. I would much rather sell a really expensive car get some money buy a decent average car and buy some things to have fun with rather then things that just drive me around.

I'm ONLY assuming here. My assumption is anyone who can afford a million dollar car has enough money to buy any other fun toys they want. The insurance on that car would probably cost as much as I make working. I would buy a decent used car & use the rest to help a needy family or two!!!

Well, first off your right, the only way I would get a 2006 Bugatti Veyron is if it was toy sized..lol and secondly his driving skills need an upgrade from stupid to smart..because I would never reach for a phone that was dropped unless I was pulled over and secure. I would definitely treat it like it was the last thing I owned and cherish it. Cause as a pile of junk scrap metal it ain't worth much to me..well there is the insurance though..

Think that maybe he wants a new car & can't afford to buy one; so, he safely totals the one he's tired of??? Now the insurance company will pay him enough to get his next luxury car!!!

If I was able to afford a million dollar car, it wouldn't leave the garage. I'd be way too nervous to drive the expensive auto on the street therefore it would be a waste of money. I'd much rather have a 1962 or 63, blue Corvette. It's my dream car. Couldn't have a carseat in the front seat though so that won't work.

First off, I would not have a million dollar car. I would have a nice vehicle though. Vehicles are replaceable. They wear out. They break. They have to be replaced when they do not work anymore. So why spend that much money on a vehicle?? Why spend that much money on anything? You can have a million dollar home. There will always be somebody who will try to take it from you. The mortgage company, the tax man, your ex, your children who hope to inherit it, your neighbor who hope to buy you out, etc. There will always be somebody out there that wants what you have. But if you don't have it, they will leave you alone.

Well, it's far from my dream car & it definitely didn't cost a million dollars, but I drive my little 11 year old Ford Escort as if it were both!!! I was raised to take care of my possessions. Yes, I have a cell phone. I have a bluetooth headset so I don't have to mess with the phone while driving. If the phone does fall in the floor & I need it, I pull off onto the side of the road in order to pick it up. I don't drive & search for the phone at the same time. Actually, I usually pull into a parking lot instead the side of the road so nobody can accidentally hit me from behind. So, to me, this guy is totally irresponsible!!!

If I had that kind of money, Id rather take care of myself and my family before splurging on that. I don't get it, really. If I did own a million dollar car, I'd most definitely take care of it. Money is not easy to come by so if I didn't take care of my million dollar car, it's like burning cash. It's silly.

My Mom always wondered how somebody could be worth several million dollars & be broke. I tried explaining to her that they splurge on the silliest things for the dayumdest amounts!!!
