Few days back in a morning while I was returning from school after dropping my daughter I saw a man plucking mangoes from a roadside tree and filling up the small cart he parked over the side. May be he was taken contract of that tree for that season to own the fruits. The man himself doesn’t look that rich. The cart was half filled with the delicious fruits and I saw a small boy standing near the mango cart and looking at them with great awe and passion. I just stopped my car and asked the mango plucker to give that boy a big ripe mango for which I would pay whatever he asks and began to take put my purse. That man just smiled at me and said that he would give that boy a mango himself and declined to take money from me for that. I thanked him for that and moved away from that place with a wonderful feeling. Your joy always doubles when you happen to see the great minds at the most unexpected places. Isn’t it?

Wow, that is very inspirational. A simple event like that could just be a minor happening in our daily lives but it does have a huge impact, doesnt it? I have a feeling that the man was really intending to give the boy a fruit. Maybe he was just finishing his work before he talk to the boy and give the fruit. You just beat him at it by asking him to share.^_^ Its okay, it is nice that there are 2 people in the world who still has not lost their compassion. This is could be a good inspirational story to share this Christmas. There is a chance that other people will do as what you and the man did, and share their blessings. Most especially this Christmas season, and maybe even beyond that. Happy Holidays.

That's the Bala effect isn't it ?. We have the goodness and humanness within us. Sometimes all it requires is the example or the prod. Your effort to do something made the person awaken. BTW, Mangoes at this time of the year ?. Tell me where it is...

Couple of months back Alok.I have been toying with the idea of putting this incident in words for quite some time and started some other discussions instead forgetting it.And after a lapse of almost a fortnight it just occurred as the pending thing lying in my mind. Anyway thanks for calling it the Bala effect.I just liked it because it gave me the confidence of using my skill of prodding more for good causes.

Strangely, this compassionate mind is seen a lot more in people of lesser means Bala.I have always felt that some poor people are more generous than their "so called ' better counterparts.I can well identify with that feeling.I would have felt the same joy and admiration for that kind soul if I were in your place.

Rightly said Kala. The poor do understand the apathy of the fellow human beings better than some of the rich whose whole life is wasted on guarding their bags of wealth. The poor do not have anything loose any more by helping the others. But they sure will get the richest blessings of God.I have seen their lack of wealth amply compensated with happiness.

Usually kindness comes from people who don't have much ,and I admire those people who take the little they have to give to others. There is still hope in this World.

hi balasri reading your discussion made me think of a story I once read on the net about this woman who went to church all the time and every one thought her so devout. she was home feeling A bit sad and praying that she might see Jesus, but it never happened. or so she thought. that morning a man walking beside a pathetic donkey stopped at her door and asked if she could give him some water for his donkey. She told him please leave as she had other things to do . so he left. At lunch she went outside and sat under a tree, again praying Jesus why cannot I see you? I am a good woman, I always tithe. A young boy came by and asked if he could have the apple hanging just above her head.she told him she was praying, so get lost. He went away looking sad. Then a young woman came by and asked if she could buy a few of the apples from the tree. the righteous woman told her to leave her property. then she prayed again, this time Jesus stood before and he said, three times I came by to answer your prayers, three times you told me to leave. So now think about it. then he just disappeared. So great things happen in the most unusual places.

Your response is so warm and enthralling that I am giving the Best response to it as a rare gesture of giving the BR to the very first response I got as a token of appreciation.

It is lovely to read your story and I love hearing about incidents like this because it restores my faith in humanity. Just when I feel that no one cares about one another anymore here is your story. It is a reminder that a small act of kindness can make huge shifts in the world. Can you imagine if we all tried kindness every day? If we all did it the world would change before our eyes. Maybe we should make a pact to do at least one kind thing every day.

Just when I start to lose all hope in people, something like that happens to revive my hope. It is so nice when that happens because I hate the thought of losing hope in kindness.

hi balastri, that is a amazing stories and i myself is happy to hear stories which deeply show human compassion to a person which is a total stranger to them. Though, one could realize their still people exist that lend a hand or willing to give without asking a favor in return. It only show that people who have those kind show compassion in whatever places that they are wiling to give without expecting from the receiver to thanks or even pay them in a small amounts. Such simple expression could makes you realize that giving could be done in many ways and even in simple ways the act itself is admirable.

Yes these kinds of incidents keep crossing in the path of our life as we are walking with a heavy heart loosing hope at the vanishing compassion and love in man kind. They sprinkle the water of hope on our parched hopes and reassure us that not all the people in this world are bad.The goodness is relentless and fight it's way to go on forever.

I do experience it to as many times I have been a magnet to beggars whatever places i go I always encounter someone begging me, though they think I have money which I have little to.. then most of the times I give any cents that i have that result from being compassionate or helpful most of the times is a good attitude.

Aren't we all suckers for generosity? The thing about your episode is that you are the trigger. You started that act of generosity by your willing heart. When you were willing to pay from your wallet, the contractor felt obliged somehow to give a spare mango gratis to the boy. Would that prove that humans are basically good?

That is a very interesting response.A food for thought.Well it may prove that all of have a streak of goodness in us which needs a jolt to start working. The basic goodness come into open with some inducement.May be we are bad in not trying to trigger it in others and just sit back and complain.Got to use the herd mentality of the people to the advantage.Sounds great. Thanks for the wonderful response.
