http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nqo7Ncj4zg How can you watch this & not cry????? A soldier returns home from Iraq & is greeted by his overjoyed dog. She cries & cries as she makes it clear that she has missed him terribly!!! I had seen this on the news but the sound wasn't clear enough to hear her cries. My Mom always wondered why people prefer their dogs to their friends. Even his wife didn't come out to meet him!!! Have you ever had your pet respond in such a manner???

Hi LadyM, I have always prefer animals to human, animals are more faithful and show their uncontional love towards you and thye obey without much fuss or back chat and cuddles you when you are sad, I got two cats. Tamara

I have quite a few dogs and when I have to travel, they do cry upon my return. It's as if they're trying to say "Where have you been?" and then they follow me around a lot. I was gone for 6 months sometimes and they'd still remember me when I'd get home.

This is something that People have to realize how smart Dogs are and that they do feel like Humans and of course they miss their owner Gissi is happy when I come home yes but if I have been gone longer then normal, he will show me that he is mad at me also is all over me Dogs will always remember their Companion no matter how long they are apart

Grace had been his ONLY child up until his son was born so Grace & the soldier had been very close. My male lab will stand on his hind legs & lick my chin when I get home. He knows better than to lick any higher than my chin!!! My female jumps up & down & smiles. No matter where they are in the yard, they run to the front corner of the fence & meet me at the gate. It's soooo nice to come home to so much LOVE!!!

Awww...I'm not really what people call a "dog person," but clearly this little fur-soul loves her "daddy" sooo much! I love how she repeatedly jumped into his lap & encouraged hugs & pets, & lovingly licked her beloved over & over! You know, people think cats are always so "independent" & reserved, but I've had several of mine come crying to be held & petted when I come home after just a few hours, at work or wherever, & even follow me around the house & down the street crying (& not for food--they HAVE that), but for affection! Animals can & do love people, if people treat them right! Maggiepie "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?"

I loved the look on Gracie's face when she didn't know he was home & she peeked around the door. The excitement in her eyes & the cry in her voice were unbelievable. The wife said Gracie has been known to pout when left by herself for short lengths of time so she half anticipated Gracie giving her soldier a cold shoulder. She never dreamed Gracie would go crazy with excitement!!! I have 2 cats that I've obviously spoiled rotten. As I walk down my hall they take turns being at the next door stretching up the door jam begging me to pat their head. My 2 dogs greet me at the gate to welcome me home, but they've never been as happy as Gracie!!! The female get pretty excited when time comes to fill her food bowl, but that's NOT the same thing!!!

My last dog didn't cry when I returned home. However, he did smile. He would pull his lips up on his teeth in the shape of a smile. When I told my Mom about this, she said No way!!! Fortunately, my Dad had seen the dog do it & he verified it to my Mom. Many years ago I had a dog that cried when I came home from work. I know dogs can remember for 3 maybe 4 hours...even op to 8-10 hours. This guy was gone for 5 months & it was like she had just seen him yesterday...just twice as happy!!!

How sweet was the welcome home by the soldier's dog. Just shows how important we are to our pets as well as our family. The overwhelming excitement of the dog was amazing. I went to visit a friend a few years ago and was gone about a week. When I came home, the cat about attacked me. She would not leave me alone for hours. My husband said all she did was sit by the front door and wait for me to return. I felt so bad for my little kitty and think she really believed I was gone forever. Thanks for sharing this video, carolbee

Overwhelming excitement are good words for it!!! I've seen dogs happy to see their masters, but can't remember seeing one quite that happy. His wife just opened the door & turned on the camera. Grace was checking out to see what was going on. Her reaction was totally amazing. I can feel her excitement while watching the video. She has not let him out of her site since his return. I used to have a cat that learned if I was going out of town, I packed a suitcase. Just as soon as I open the suitcase & laid it out on the bed to start packing, she'd jump in & go spread eagle to keep me from putting in clothes in it. She always looked at me with those really sad eyes. It got to the point that I had to pack 3 days early to be finished in time to leave. The first time I went out of town I boarded her at a vet. On return, she was skinny & pitiful. They said she refused to eat. I fed her when I got her home & she ate like a pig. She smothered me with kisses & loving pats for days. I couldn't sit down without her jumping up in my lap. After the first time, I just put down plenty of food & water & let her stay at home by herself. I never came home to a skinny, sick cat again. So, both cats & dogs love & miss us when we're gone & are happy to see us return. It's just that Grace as so overwhelmed with her happiness I couldn't help but cry. I could feel her excitement!!!

I used to have a Pomeranian and he used to cry for us when we were gone and returned home too. I had to put him to sleep when he got older and got sick. We have a Yorkie now and he actually cries for us also and his little mouth just quivers like a human.

AWWWWWWWWW, that is so precious!!! My Mom said we used to have a Cocker Spaniel that cried when we left home. She had actual tears run down her face. My parents finally gave her away to a friend who could stay home with her most of the time. My mom couldn't stand leaving her crying!!!

BULL CRAP!!!!! Dogs sure as hell remember someone they cherish and don't see for a long time. This is obvious proof. Still have tears runnin' just thinking how overjoyed Gracie was in seeing her daddy again.

Animals have long memories! I think people don't credit them because they prefer to think we are the highest and best life form on earth. I didn't watch the video, don't feel like crying this morning, but I'm very happy that the man has someone to love him. Why didn't his wife go to greet him?! Dogs are the best, they are more loyal than humans and they do have emotions and compassion.

Firstly I must say that this video is amazing. I don't know how people can say that dogs do not love, when there's an obvious evidence to that. On September I moved to another city to study, leaving my labrador at home. And every time I was coming back she was so crazy to see me. She wouldn't let me go, following me everywhere. And when I was leaving she would be staring at me through window with those sad eyes.

Dogs do remember. One of my friends visited my house twice and he became familiar with my doggie, and after 4 months he visited again and the dog didn't barg at him , and he was happy to see him again... Even if this is the case with one whom he have seen only twice, what would be his love to those who live with him! Surely, dog is the best pet man have ever been with..

I'm not really a dog person, so have a cat. But she might as well be a dog! When she was younger (and more spry without arthritis), she would chase her own tail in circles. She would be waiting at the door for me, when I got home from work... well, sort of. If I got home between 5-6, anyway. I guess she got bored/impatient/mad at about 6, and be off doing something else if I was late! LOL

Aw... I almost cried when I watched this. It must be such a good feeling for a soldier to know that not only his family and friends missed him, but his dog as well. I suppose that's why they call dogs "man's best friend". That makes me happy to watch!
