Hey there Vanillarey... First of all, I am a PCer...been a Microsoft user since DOS, however I CAN tell you a few things about MAC and Linux OS. Example: Apple/Macintosh specializes in hardware production, whereas Microsoft specializes in software. The main thing is that these operating systems are absolutely security protected against any viruses, worms, or Trojans from getting into the system. A GREAT feature for sure! Too bad Apple and Microsoft couldn't get together and share this little bit of info. Secondly, the language is "somewhat" similar, but you will have to learn newer words to describe those features you'd be used to in Windows. For example, the task bar is called a Dock, and usually located on the left-hand side of the screen. Thirdly, there are some Windows applications that will not work on the MAC but will in Linux....and....some of your fave Windows applications are not available at all. Lastly, MAC is a titch slower than Windows, if you don't mind that sort of thing. But, as operating systems go, these two are useful for graphics and multi-media productions, such as video. All Hollywood CGI special effects are done on these machines. Remember Jurassic Park? Star Wars? ET? You get the picture. But if you prefer versatility, then for my money, go with Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 or 3, NOT the XP Home Edition. Even though these two look virtually the same, you can do more with the Pro...where you CAN run Linux OS or OS10 on this system behind Windows XP. Neat huh? Vista? Forget it! Too many glitches. Windows 7? Just a little more "window" dressing. ;-) There you have it. Either way, they're both very good as computers go...each sporting their own particular advantages and disadvantages. Really, it just comes down to a matter of choice and to what end you will be using the computer for. That's really all there is basically to it. Good luck on your choice. cdrxo

Just a little extra note.... Internet Explorer (IE) will not work with Linux. You'll have to use Mozilla FireFox instead. Cheers;cdrxo

I am using M$ Windows OS and I have also Linux. I think the advantages of this OSes is to the person who is using it. Depends on your usage, if you are fun of M$ Windows then you might not love Linux neither like Mac. I want to have Mac but I don't have the OS since they have already open for PC hardware.
