Is eating 3 meals a day really needed for our body?

Most people think that 3 meals a day is what everyone needs. I for one, am only hungry for about 2. I don't starve myself, it's just that I'm not hungry. Does anyone agree with me that sometimes 3 meals is just too many? Is our common understanding that eating 3 meals a day is the only way to stay healthy. But sometimes I think, eating 3 meals a day seems too many. In the animal kingdom, some animals don't eat several days (or weeks) before each meal. Do you think eating 3 meals really needed for our body? or its just too many?

Definitely it is a need that is why their is breakfast, lunch and supper. bit, sometimes it is not follow as some people skip their meals or other are simply forget the right time and though they still eat only not exactly at the right time, which both bad to health.

I think it's not the Number of Meals you eat in the day,it's the quantity of food you'd actually eat at each sitting that's important. Eating a meal will get your metabolism going to start digesting the food.Studies say getting your metabolism going with smaller meals more times in the day will be more beneficial to you than larger meals once or twice. Your body won't experience roller coaster peaks in blood sugar levels when you're eating a little, and often. Our lifestyle sometimes doesn't allow us to plan meals the best way to do this,so we rely on maybe one Main meal in the day with (perhaps) a light breakfast. Unfortunately, that leaves us in a position to snack in between on the treat stuff that'll add pounds.Balance in your life, between regularly getting enough food, sleep, and exercise will help if you have a weight problem.Binging your requirements doesn't help.

Our bodies need the nutrients, vitamins and proteins. It is essential for our good health that we try to maintain the three meals a day. Eating as many fruits and vegetables as we can promotes our good health for mind and body.

well it depends on the persons body system, most poeple even eat once a day and take fruits and juice for the day and are fine , you know poeples body funcional system are lower than others, and some are stronger than others. this is the main thing about the 3 square meal thing, if you find your body fit not to eat too much then thats fine but if you have a body system that needs food to move on that you can do that only when you feel hungry. thats my point of view ovder this issue but at for me I actually eat most times twice a day. But we should not base the fact that since we eat twice a day its better than others who eat three square meal.

Yes I totally agree that eating 3 meals a day is more than sufficient. Furthermore, due to this number of times of eating a day, humans have to spend time, effort and money to shop, prepare and cook food just to fill our stomach. Think about it, if humans were designed to only eat only once a day or once every few days, we'd have more time to do other stuff. Ok, so this might mean less development on the food industry. Meaning, less food factories and supermarkets built Meaning, less restaurants are being built Meaning, less vehicles transporting food products to restaurants and supermarkets Meaning, less ppl using vehicles to travel to buy food and to go to restaurants Meaning, less exhaust gas from vehicles polluting the air Meaning: less money spent on groceries and other food bills meaning, less animals are being killed for food esp. exotic animals Meaning, less animals go extinct or are being endangered Meaning, more land and opportunity to green the earth Meaning, less fat are being consumed Meaning, less sufferers of obesities and diabetics Meaning, less organic garbage is produced Meaning, less greenhouse gas emission from rotting food Make sense?

I think it depends on the person. From what I have experienced, our body will always learn to adjust. I used to eat three times a day. Now, I only eat twice a day and I do not find any problem with it. Its a matter of adjustment and the kind of food that we eat. We could be eating three times a day but the food we eat are not healthy foods and of course may cause health problems later on. So it really depends on different factors.

No, i don't think it's necessary. I too only eat 2 times a day- most days. there is however some days where I just seem hungry all day.. It's rare but it happens and then I eat..lol But most days I just eat twice. I think it depends on what you eat -too- if it is filling then you probably aren't going to want to eat for quite a while.. but if yo eat something that does not fill you up- chances are you are going to be hungry again in a few hours.

i think it depends on individual i eat 3 meals a day. but i am not stobborn that i must eat 3 meals a day. if i dont feel hungry then i dont eat for the whole day. ya i drink a lot of water. include 50% of green vegetables and fruits in your diet and see what happens if you are doing wrong then you will start feeling hungry and if you are doing right then you will see no change except you dark circles around your eyes will disapper if u have them

Since I have gotten older and changed my habits to match my life style and age I have noticed what is best for me. I seem to run better on the 3 meals a day. I might not see the difference on that day but it catches up to me on the next day. If I skip breakfast I have the tendency to eat more that evening. Now that I have hit that middle age I have to watch and focus on my eating habits. So yeah I believe that it is good to have the 3 meals to keep adding fuel to the body for the next day. Have a nice day and keep smiling.

I actually eat whenever I want to. If I feel hungry when it's meal time, then I eat with my family but when I still feel full, I wont. I think eating 3 times a day on a specific time is something that our body has been used to. but since i have an irregular work and sleep pattern, I just try to eat when I need to and when i feel like it. :D

Yes,eating three meals or if some individuals feel like eating four meals also it is fine until one turns thirty five and more. But if you are not feeling hungry then its alarming and you have to go and consult your doctor.Of course aged individuals do eat twice a day as their appetite goes down with age.I do not know how old you are.Eat well and stay healthy and fit until unless you have good appetite.

I agree that you should only eat when your hungry. Your body knows what it needs. That's why we get cravings for certain foods. I have read that it's healthier to eat 5 or 6 times a day in smaller amounts.

Hi, Its vary person to person. Qauntity and frequancy of meal is depend on how much body require and this is depend on nature of your work. People like farmer and mechanical peoples( energy consuming work),they require 3 meals a day and it is recommonded. In case of children food given in batch will be more effective. means littlebit but after 2-3 hours.
