Its part of making our children a better person in the future. All of us need to teach it. Washing dishes, fixing their bed, cleaning the house, etc. are household chores that needs to be teach to our children. Do so still remember the first household chores that you have teach your children to do?

i've taught my sons to fix their beds. then my eldest son is now trying his hands in dishwashing, actually he volunteered. i didn't let him do it at first for fear he'll break the plates and everything but he's insistent and i finally relent. i just keep watch so he'll not hurt himself in the process.

I'm nt sure if it qualifies as a "chore" or not but when my kids hit about 2 or 3 i always made sure they helped pick up their toys at the end of the day. They also helped put their dirty laundry in the hamper. Teaching them these small responsibilites really help them learn to be responsible and helpful as they get older.

Respect and appreciation (along with a simple sense of cleanliness and organization!) are what drive a lot of the reason for many of us to complete chores. So I think teaching kids to care for their own belongings is the start to teaching them all kinds of other household chores. By teaching kids to value and appreciate what they own (toys, clothes, their room, etc) they begin to understand more of the importance of carrying this out in other areas, and as they get older, they understand the value of the broader scope of things that belong to them and to others.
