me too is afraid of the dark. i had suddenly become afraid of the dark when i was small. There is a night light in my room, but i remmebered i woke up in the early morning, crying and covering my eyes. so the fear of dark starts at childhood. i know i need to conquermy fears.

Not really. I feel fairly safe in my neighborhood. I usually keep the doors locked and the alarm system on out of habit it nothing else. I don't really like being at home alone simply because I am used to my family being around and it seems odd to be there by myself. But there is always the cat to keep me company if everyone is out and about at night.

having a cat is a nice idea. i have known form a friend that a cat can see what we humans can't. infact when early in the morning, you can have its dried tears and put it beside your eye and lean down then you can see what the cat sees. it's just a superstitious belief and i will never try to do that.

I've been home alone since Wednesday morning by myself, its now Monday early morning and my family is coming home sometime this afternoon. The first day I thought that certain strange things were happening but I just decided not to think about it. I do sometimes get nervous if I hear a noise that is unfamiliar to me. What I do is watch TV while I'm on the computer or list to music that is a great distraction.

i do that too so that i can't hear any noise.sometimes the noise becomes the reaosn why i keep on imagining things.if the sound system is that loud i guess my attnetion would resort to other things.

The way I overcome the dread is to find a lot of things to do and make my mind fulfilling, then I have no time to imagine horrible things, till I'm tired to bed.

that's good. i have known from a friend that if one is scared he just have to count one to one hundred to twist the fear one is experiencing. here's one fact about our dread to darkness: Adults with the same phobia also react to the dark negatively most often due to a traumatic experience or association with darkness. As an adult, dealing with the cause of the fear is the key to overcoming it. Counseling sessions with a therapist may help adults interpret their fears and recognize the contributing factors. Once the fear is dissected, and the originating cause is determined, they too can begin to desensitize themselves, and provide themselves with reasonable safety measures that will keep the fear from overwhelming and interfering with normal life.

For awhile I was afraid, when my home was new to me..I had to get adjusted. Now I feel totally relaxed here. I saw someone comment about ghosts..I used to be afraid (once lived in a haunted house) and I love a good horror movie myself..but I'm not afraid anymore-I think if anything did come in after me-it should be more afraid of me! LOL

For day time, stay alone at home is ok for me, I spend my time by doing housework, watch movie and online, for late night time, I will be a bit afraid, I always tell myself there is nothing being alone and nothing to be afraid and make myself quickly fall asleep by listening to light music.

I am not afraid of being alone. Usually my daughter is here but when she was younger, she did go to her dad's on the weekends while I worked. When I would come home the house was at times empty. I have other older kids so they were sometimes here but there were times when they all went to their dad's & i would find myself alone. I did miss them but i also loved the alone time that was always so rare in my house. I could use the computer without competition, read without interruption, take a long relaxing bath with no door knockers, listen to the music I love etc etc. I know it might seem weird if you aren't used to it but if you find projects to keep yourself busy then the time will fly and before you know it, they will all be home again. Or you could just hang out on here and get in a few extra hours of mylotting and earn some extra $ to boot.

Not usually, every now and then I spook myself. Just last night, everyone was sleeping, I seen my reflection in the window I first thought some one was outside. After I moved a couple times I realized it was me. lol. I don't do that as much as I use to. It was bad when I was a kid.

nORMALLY I AM NOT AFRAID TO BE ALONE. hAVE LIVED ALONE FOR A LONG TIME.We did have a rapist on the loose a few months back & that made me feel uncomfortable knowing that & i sure didn't like that feeling. Once they caught him i was back to my normal self. U should be able to feel safe in your own home. U be careful, lock up good & be aware of what is going on around u.

I used to be afraid but now I feel lonely. Home alone for a long time can be a very bad and depressive thing. When I remain alone at home I feel very lonely.

Usually, my parents and my brothers go out for shopping and all and I am all alone at home.Previously, I was not that afraid but nowadays the increasing crime and insecurity has triggered my senses, whenever there is a noise, I look if the doors are properly shut or not.I also shut all the doors opening outside the balcony before everybody leaves!!!I also feel that no stranger may come to my house until everybody arrives, i feel quiet nervous nowadays....

it feels strange being home alone indeed! I am rarely home alone but for a short time. It's also a strange feeling for me to go shopping alone as well as I've always had someone with me. I'm only leary when my hubby is on night shifts but I have a dog to hear for things I cannot and the kids to keep me company as well as our cats.

Nope, I am not. In fact, I like being home alone sometimes. I can just laze around or do some cleaning without anybody disturbing me. I feel comfortable in our house. I mean, I cannot feel anything "unusual" in it. There are some spooky places though that, even if I cannot see anything weird, I really feel scared. We have a restaurant here in our place that I really like but I avoid the restroom when I go there because I really feel uncomfortable, like someone I cannot see is watching me. I think I would die of fright if I am left alone in places like that. Have a nice day!

I am not afraid to be alone at home because I am a homebody person.Time is very precious to me so I usually find something to felt bored when I am at home.I think it's a matter of liking and enjoying the things that you do and want to accomplish when you're at home.At the the end of the day, I am glad and happy because I have done or accomplished something new during the day.Besides, I missed to be at home because I am so busy with my work and other appointments during working days.I will be glad and excited if there's opportunity to stay at home..or even when I am alone.

oh no closed doors and windows will make more afraid. if that is so i can't run if there is something that comes out. what i usually do is that i keep everything open so i can run as fast as i can.

No I'm not afraid being alone at home for I know I can control over it. If you are imagining things then only your imagination can create those creatures you fear. Stop imagining them & take control so that you can find it productive to be alone.
