A Day to Never Go Outside

Has there been a day lately that you didn't set foot outside your home for an entire day? I'm not going anywhere today. My back is, well, who wants to hear me whine...Anyway, I figured I should just do nothing for an entire day so it can maybe get better. I don't want to just take more pain medication. That's not the solution. But it's hard for me not to go outside! I feel so restless and somewhat lazy. Most of you know I'm on disability, so I'm not missing work or anything.
So when was the last time you didn't go outside your home for a full 24 hours? Like not even to get your mail.

I am on disability also and actually there are days and days I never go outside at all. My mail comes to the appartment and the mail boxes are just down the hall making it nice for winter months. I am going to go out today for my flue shot and tomorrow I'm supposed to go out with my daughter for lunch, so I'm looking forward to that. I've eazily gone six or seven days and never left the house.

Never ever or very rare I feel. I have some activity to do outside. I meet my mates and going out again meet some friend more. Why don't you try new thing and enjoy it then ?

Thank You my dear friend, it's too bad some people have no understanding or concept in understanding disabilities. What I would give to be healthy!!!

Its been a very long time...maybe when I was snowed in one day last winter or even before that.....I love staying home and try not to leave unless it's absolutely necessary but usually something comes up and I have to leave for a little while....I do go stir crazy though if I stay indoors too long!

I actually took Sherlock out half an hour ago. He was giving me these pitiful looks, so I went down the stairs and took him for a walk. Unfortunately, he wanted to walk everywhere, despite the cold, despite the fact that he was shivering as much as I was. I told him no more tonight. Tomorrow sure, but not again tonight.

Sherlock is inside with me today. He is trained to go on little pee pads. He hasn't eaten anything today, so there isn't anything for me to clean up so far. I have to go up and down a staircase to take him for a walk, and I can't do that today. But it's so cold out there anyway, I really don't think Sherlock would want to go out. He hates the cold and the wind.

There's been plenty of times that I didn't go outside the whole day... Well maybe not plenty but a few. Usually I am home as though I have a job lined up, they still haven't called so I am just waiting. Usually I'll check the mail, take the dogs out, and walk my husband outside for him to go to work... but other then that, I don't set foot outside, and sometimes I don't even check the mail or take the dogs out, because as you know we live with his parents.

That hasn't happened for a long time. When I used to live in New England, we had blizzards with the snow so deep that it wasn't worth trying to go out. Those were enjoyable times though, where we'd sit around the woodstove and just enjoy the short-lived isolation. It's different if you aren't feeling well, or are in pain like you are. Don't feel bad about taking the time to let your body heal, the paid is nature's way of making you stop for a while. Also, if your doctor told you to take the pain medicine, you should. Why hurt more than you have to? I hope you're feeling better soon!

The thing is, the pain medication while it helps, never quite gets rid of the pain. Sometimes I'm walking and I'll bend over suddenly in agony. I wait a few minutes, stand up and then keep on walking. But the medicine he gave me is a narcotic. I don't fear getting addicted to it, but the more I take, the more my body will get used to it, and then I'll have to take more...I go see him again in early December. I'm not sure what he is going to do.

It's not a good idea to totally get rid of the pain, otherwise you might re-injure something without realizing it. Taking prescribed medicine for pain is not apt to make you addicted. It's if you continue to take it after the pain has abated to where it can be controlled by other medications that you have to worry. If you've talked to your doctor about this concern, I bet he (or she) told you pretty much the same thing, right?

Hello AmbiePam. There is never a day we don't go outside. We are not house cats we just wouldn't be able to handle it staying in the house all day long. But know a bunch of people that stay in their homes and don't go outside unless they have to move. It isn't that they are disabled or anything like that they just won't get up off their bottoms and move around. We love to go outside and do all kinds of things. But today we are stuck in the house and for the next 3 days it calls for rain (which we don't need) so we will be in the house for a few days. But if the chance arises we will dart out and do something so we don't waste the moment without rain. We do all kinds of things in the house when we are stuck in the house though. Hope you get to feeling better soon and get a chance to enjoy the beautiful day outside. Have a great day!

Not even my housecats stay indoors all day. They must be in and out. We are not having a beautiful day, either. We have had light snow and rain and very cold temperatures all day.

I did go outside about half an hour ago to walk my dog for a little bit. I felt sorry for him to be couped up, even if he is a little bitty thing. But it isn't a beautiful day here. It's freezing cold and the wind is blowing very hard. Even my dog was ready to go back inside! lol

Actually there have been days I haven't been outside for up to a week, especially in winter months with snow..me and slick icy paths just don't match..even in summer months there will be days and up to 2-3 days that I don't go outside..that is also a part of my depression though. My husband often swears if I had a laptop I wouldn't even get out of the bed..lol..Well, I do sincerely hope that you will feel well rested and in less pain tomorrow..you are right more pain medication isn't always the answer...

I usually always go outside at some point during the day unless I am sick, which seems to be alot lately. I hate being cooped up inside. I need fresh air and sunshine. I am always trying to be outside doing something, even if it's just going to the mall or to the grocery store.

I tried to do that last March during blizzard conditions, but was "on call" and had to go take care of someone. Maybe I need a call free job, before the new blizzard season starts.

I stayed home from Saturday until this morning. I only took the garbage out and the rest of the time was spent in a glorious "ME" day!.

ambiepam I have not been outside since Saturday when my friend Nelda took me to the dedication service of the new Tustin Library and we had a ball. I got to meet five of my old coworkers from the old Tustin library and we hugged and talked up a storm. So yesterday I tried to get a lot of mylotting done so I did not step outside at all. This morning we had adriana and brad for out singalong so missed mylotting then so am mylotting now and no I never went outside once. trying to make the next payoff again.

I've only not gone outside if I am sick. If I am at home then I usually putter around h garden. I love being outside but then I am in a warm climate and this alone can make a big difference. I am so sorry that you are not well today. I am not getting any notis from you or other friends so sometimes I miss your posts. Take care my friend and I do hope that you will feel better tomorrow.

I lose interest to go out when it is madly raining that it makes the road muddy and with a presence of floods. It is annoying sights and i would only go out when the heavy rain downpour finally settle down. Then, inside the home what i do most of the times is to take a nap whenever i like too and watch DVD movies most of the time. Then, also cook food and have fun doing karaoke singing which is very relaxing.

Honey! Lemme tell you that those of us who have back problems...are more than sympathetic. Go ahead and whine! I am back on the walker, counting down the days until hopefully we can get something done. I haven't been anywhere in three weeks, because we are in an upstairs apartment and it's too hard for me to get up and down the stairs.
I did take the computer and go out onto the patio today and sat in the sun for awhile.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I go see the surgeon again on December, but the way my back is now, I don't know how I'll go to Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's. Just sitting in my car shoots pain all through my body. I called his office this morning, but they didn't get back to me. Hopefully they will tomorrow. I left another message, whereas the first time I got a live person.

I do it once in awhile. Mostly on the weekends or if my son stays home from school sick. Monday through Friday I am pretty much forced to head out the door at 8 am to take Jeremy to school and then pick him up again after school. I kind of feel bad on days when I do not leave the house out of pure laziness, but not bad enough to get out of the house.

I hope your back feels better soon. I love days where I don't have to go out any where. Of course if it is because you are sick or in pain that is not fun. But just having a day where I don't have to go anywhere would be a wonderful day indeed. There would be so many things I could accomplish. There were days during the summer that we stayed home and didn't go out anywhere, but I have to drive my youngest to kindergarden every day now and pick him up so I have to go out every day during the week. Plus my other two kids always have things I need to take them too I long for a day with no driving. Next week the kids are off of school so maybe I will get a day next week to just stay home. Thanksgiving is at our house so I probably won't go anywhere on Thanksgiving.

Hey Ambie! I hate to admit it but, I do that alot! I am also
on Disability and there are just some days I don't want to do
anything or go anywhere! Some of it is my depression and some
of it is pain. And as the weather gets colder, the feeling
will get worse! It is 52 degrees today and I am in the apartment
with my hoodie on and freezing and don't have a clue why! It
is probably 20 degrees warmer outside if I felt like going! I
am just in one of my "not feeling well moods" and don't feel
like going anywhere. I am having a serious problem with Disability
regarding my Medicaid and am waiting for 2 important phone calls
that I really need to get. NY Disability Law is so screwed up!
The give me a certain amount of money which is not that much and
want me to give them back $447 of it to pay for Medicaid! That
leaves me with just about nothing to pay rent and bills! No wonder
why I don't want to go outside!

Hi AmbiePam.
Yes, when I am tired after long working week I didn't go outside. I can stay and resting at home not 24... I can do it even two or 3 days. I just love to stay at home in my rest days, but my son is not agree with me :)) He wants to walk with me outside, he wants to play with children in the park, and I am always with him, because he is just two year old...
