My son that had surgery back in March to put rods in his back, and then had more surgery because of infection is in trouble again. Last night while putting him to bed, I noticed he had a big round red circle on his back. The nurses have been here today and have contacted the doctor. They think the infection is back. This may mean more surgery. Please pray for us! He has been on antibiotics since April. We were hoping that in the next couple months, they could take the rods back out. I am just so drained dealing with this. It seems it will never end. I keep going, knowing he is still with us, but it is totally draining me. I cannot even imagine what it is doing to him. Have you ever had to go through something like this?

Hello Thoroughrob. I am so sorry about your sons health. I will keep him in my prayers and hopefully God will heal him soon. Why did they have to put the rods in his back? I haven't ever had to go through anything like this I can't imagine what you are going through. But I imagine it is worse on your son. I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope and pray that your son will soon be healed! Ask it in Jesus name and God will hear you! Hope you have a better day today!

He has cerebral palsy and had a 110 degree curve, that if we did not do this, would kill him within the next couple of years. Thanks for the prayers.

Do you have an idea on the name of infection and what type it is. Usually in most cases where a swollen spot comes like that after surgery is the result of the surgeon leaving something inside the patient during surgery. like as piece of wire gauze or something like that. It is not a rare occurence, and it can be taken care of. all in all there could be many factors contributing to it maybe inflamation from surgery.

The last infection he had was the type that goes into menengitis. This does not look like the same, but his incision was not healed all the way the last time. We have been on antibiotics since April, giving the back time to fuse so that they can take the rods back out.

Yes by all means you have my prayers and all and any support I may be. Our kids are the most important thing we will ever have. I have only one daughter one son in law and two grandchildren and my goodness I couldn't part with any one of them. I pray every night when going to bed for their safety and I promise to keep you and your son in my nightly prayers for my friends here at myLot. Blessings

If they put him in and do surgery, I won't be back for at least 4 days. Hopefully, I will be home tomorrow with news.

Hi thoroughrob, I have never been through that, but I can understand what it must feel by merely thinking of myself in your shoes! How old is your son? Yes, he must feel terrible to be so helpless if he is young. Hang on. Only a mother can have that kind of strength. My prayers are with you. You also need to take care of yourself, your health in particular.

My son is 15, and has CP. His mentality is that of a 6 or 7 year old. He is nonverbal, so it is even harder to understand what he tries to tell you, and if he is comprehending what is happening to him. He understands alot, but you just don't know what he is thinking or what you can do to make things better.

Your poor darling boy and you too. I just wish I could find the words to make you feel better. This is such a sad and horrible trial for you and your family to be going through and I'm sure you must be terribly tired of it all and worried too. I'm always so grateful when I hear of people going through such things as I've never had to endure anything similar. I don't know where I could find the strength each day, day after day, to keep going even though you have no choice. Hang in there my friend, your friends are here for you. I will be lighting a candle for you and your boy.

You certainly have my prayers Thoroughrob! I am so sorry you and your son are going through such an awful time. I relate to the feelings of frustration and exhaustion that come with situations like this. It reminds me of the terrible time I had when my husband was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder and his illness was way out of control with continuous psychotic episodes and unpredictable behaviour; at the time it felt like it was never going to end and I’m sure that is how you are feeling now. It will come to an end and everything will be fine for your son and hopefully there will be no more surgery. In the meantime I will keep the prayers up for you. Take care...

I'm so sorry to hear about what you and your family is going through, most specially your son. Thankfully, I've not had to experience anything like that in my entire life. My prayers are with you and your family. I hope everything gets better here on. You are a strong person inside as you are where you stand, still there and still doing the best. Don't lose hope. I know sometimes the situation feels hopeless but prayers can help you get through. I'll say one for you. Best wishes.
