Are you ever tired with the act of living? What gives you strength to go on?

I hope this discussion doesn't say a lot about me, or maybe it does! Everyone has bad days I know that and you sometimes ask yourself: what's next? How much more? How many more years do I remain lost in this world? I'm struggling between the two, good days and bad days although there are a lot more bad days now! I have a plan but it sometimes seems as though I'm stuck in limbo if that makes any sense! Do you have a strategy that you use that keeps you going and fighting on with the game of life? I try to pick up a positive book or listen to a positive tape and it seems to help, not always but sometimes! It's great to have a support network but when you don't have this where do you get your support from? This is another one to think about! Andrew

andrewfreyne I have been there and done that this past year, in this horrid economy its not news when someone is laid off or is evicted from their apartment, no, what people do not know is the sick feeling, the overwhelming sadness that comes when your life is suddenly turned completely upside down. we went from a decent apartment and my son working to being homeless so he decided that this wouldn't do for me as I am 83 and slightly handicapped, so he and a social worker from adult protective services put me here in gold crest a retirement center. my social security and ssi checks cover the rent and food and leave me with some money for personal needs. my son still out of work is in a gov.sponsored apartment with three roommates all of whom are looking for work.so i have been do wn and now am looking up. each d ay is a gift from God and things will turn around and will get better.Sure I have upset times, but must be happy each day as I know it will turn around,we will once more be in an apartment just wait and see.look, look up and see the sun, smile be happy, make yourself happy. as I must do myself.

Hi Hatley, yours is quite a powerful story and I really like your attitude in relation to staying positive despite the hardship that you have experienced. I will try and adopt a similar attitude and count my blessings and have hope for the future. I'm always pleased when the sun shines although there are far too many rainy days at the moment here in London! Thanks for your thoughts on this and sharing your particular circumstances. Andrew

Yeah Andrewfreyne, Hatley does have the spirit, doesn't she? I feel so inspired by her. :) She makes me feel so lucky. I think I came to mylot as a cry baby. I thought I was the only one in the world with woes. But after coming here, I realized there are so many with problems much worse than mine, and they still smile and encourage me. The more I know them, the more I love them. :)

Well, it's nice that you have some decent friends that can support you in your time of need. That's a shame about the laptop lcd screen but I'm sure that things will become better from this time forward. I did need some cheering up myself but it seems that the day has passed and I feel a little free from the thoughts I had yesterday! Thanks. Andrew

I am more tired with the act of supporting my living. The living part can be quite fun. It is the working part that is a drag. I want to travel and be online all the time and a lot of other things, but instead I just seem to always be at work.

That's the thing about life I guess! You need the work in order to create the kind of life that you want for yourself. There have been lots of different views on how people cope differently and it makes very interesting reading. Thanks for your contribution Garden and it's nice chatting with you again. Andrew

Right now the only thing that keeps me going on is the hope that someday I might be able to look forward to life. I couldn't see having immortality like the vampires. That's just tooooooo much for me. LOL!

Living in such a society, I guess all people have been tired with the act of living before.
In the so called society, we have to face the keen competition, have to work hard in order to enjoy a better life in the future and get ready to face various difficulities and troubles. So, it is common that we may feel tired with current life and won't want to continue our life any longer. You see, everytime when I lose courage to continue my life, then I will spend some time chatting with my fammily. In my eyes, it is the relationship with my family that help me to face the reality of life again.
Home is a warm harbour. Whenever we feel tired with the act of living, we can go home and have a rest.

I woke up this morning and I guess I'm feeling more positive today. I'm guessing that there will always be bad times but there will certainly be good times as well! Life is full of twists and turns and I just have to accept that I guess. It's nice to have a home family environment, I don't have that so I have to make do with what I have I guess. Thanks for your thoughts on this. Andrew

Hello Andrew. I am sorry your feeling like this. We start each day listening to the word of God and that is a great way to start the day. That is our motivation God gives us the strength to keep up these lives. God has a plan for all of us. We try each and every day to do something positive. It works really well when we stop and pray about things before we do them. Stay positive with Gods word you will find it a lot better life with Gods blessings. Have a great positive day Andrew!

Hi, thanks for your thoughts. Yes, I like to pray myself although there are times when I give up even on this! It's nice to hear from positive people like yourself though, that really does make all the difference. I do experience something when I pray, an uplifting of spirit, I can't explain it though. Thanks again. Andrew

Hello Andrew it is good to pray. If you really want a blessing this day and every day listen to this preacher/teacher http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.cfm. Your life will really change. We have been listening to this teacher for over 5 years and the blessings just keep pouring into our lives. Hope this helps you Andrew. Have a great day!

I was just saying to another member, I think we go through phases; days on end when our balance is off kilter, then days when all is right with our world. Things change all the time, nothing is set in stone, we just need to be patient and know we will see a brighter day eventually/soon.
I don't have a support network and positive books and tapes tend to bring me down and make me aware of how pathetic my existence is so I stay away from them.
I've learned that as we grow wiser (older) we more readily accept that the universe continues to turn, that what you put in is what you get out and that every cloud has a silver lining.
Gee I sound like a walking cliche eh?

Yes, I'm realising that now too! We are constantly going through different phases and they are forever changing. I love self-help books and they really do put me on an even keel and help me to get my thoughts organised! Still, I'm a more positive person today! Andrew

I guess you have mentioned a key word there, fun! Where is the fun in my life I ask myself! I need to start doing more! I guess it's the whole package though that prevents certain things! Debt! Not working! Plans! Goals! Not being able to achieve them! Well, I'm slowly working on trying to improve things but I guess I'm really grateful for what I have right now! I guess I love cycling and this gives me real freedom for a short while! Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew

Hi Andrew, The idea of a support network is a great one and we all need it at times. I've read a lot of positive books too but I've had times when it just didn't work. It seems that we need different things at different times if you understand what I mean. The positive book or tape may work at one time but at other times you might need to go for a long brisk walk. Having a good friend who is also a good listener is a great help. Meditation can be very good or even what I call going into the silence. All answers come from within but getting to know our inner self can take a lot of time and patience. There are some good teachings out there and some excellent books that can help us in this journey. I've found the teachings of Unity to be especially good but there are many others as well and some great new books have come out in recent years, yet no one idea seems to be for everyone. Never forget to count your blessings because there is strength in gratitude and always remember that there is good in everyone, just because we can't always see it doesn't mean it's not there. we are all here for a purpose but sometimes that purpose is difficult to see or understand but giving up is never an option. Blessings.

Hello pose, it's nice to be chatting with you once more. I think that I have found a fantastic support network in My Lot. I love the idea of experiencing silence and I have certainly tried this in the past. I guess you tend to lose your way when you become busy and this certainly happened with me and I eventually gave up on the idea of contemplation. I love the idea of gratitude though and really do try to practise the attitude of gratitude myself at times, that's during my happy days!. Thanks for your thoughts on this one. Andrew

it is hard battle actually for me to stay positive. i had been through so many problems and difficulties and still in that situation. so i could not advice you. for me i am more like trying to survive life's sadness and loneliness. it is not easy. just staying at home. with no friends who call as i have no friends at all. with some casual friends that do me no good at all. so basically it causes me this dark cloud above my head.

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear about your own situation. Yes, life can be a real pain at times! I'm just so glad to be communicating with others here on My Lot! I guess I look at My Lot as being my extended family now. I never used to have any friends as I would always shy away from meeting new people but that's slowly starting to change now! I really hope that your own situation improves and I'm sure it will given time. Thanks for your thoughts on this. Andrew

I know how yu feel! It seems that the light at the end of the tunnel always tends to be a train and it chases you. Each day I fight to get up anymore. I know though that my family will get through this. I keep inmind that I work and plan and stick to it for my kids. They are what helps me get through the bad days. When it seem to never stop. I am under the impression that God doesnt give you what you cant handle. I find friends that I can talk to and I keep a journal to track my progress and get things off my chest. If you dwell on it then it only gets worse. I am going to suggest that you go and get a book. You can find it at walmart of 10 bucks. It is called The Secret. It is one of the most inlightening books that I have read and it does work as long as you follow what they say and keep a positive attitude.

I have always experience it as desire to pursue something is my dream to accomplish something and finish it with my targeted goals. But, just like you the situation would not cooperate no matter i think positive. Every thing i wish to happen to me is lead me to nowhere and their is a lot of disappointment. How do i cope with it? My family is my sources of strength and i do live, serve and cherish them for every seconds that we share. no one on this world could bring an inner peace and calm me without their presence this world would be a useless place to live by.
Although, it is not an ultimate basis as i know their are people who live alone and had been abandon by their own family for a long time have still manage to survive and i think the only things which makes them to live is to fight for their love of self. It is the only hope that is left and if you surrender it is an equivalent to escape in a reality. Though, the life is complex one need to be very courageous to face it alone and let self becomes a survivor rather than become a loser and do self pity most of the times. lastly, their is a need to fight for self withdrawal to defeat and instead fight to live.

Well, it's nice to have goals and things. I too have things that I want to accomplish but whilst I am trapped by debt it is virtually impossible. I'm going to try and remain positive though and work on achieving what I want no matter how long it takes, even if I have to fight on right through old age!. I guess it's the trying that really counts! Andrew

hell no i am a hedonist i gravitate towards the pleasureable things and i am in good spirits most of the time. Positivity is a good start for living but it shouldnt be the only aspect that one must have in order to really live life to the fullest.I am in good enough spirits that i have completely stayed away from nihilist ideologies. so my advice for living is that many of you abandon nihilist traditions, so that you can truly experience life itself....

I find ways. There is always something to live for. I lost my father, my brother, my grandmother and my step-father do not have much time left, and I just manage to go on. I have to. I have so much that I want to do, and so much left undone. You have to find a reason. There is so much in life to do, you just have to look for it.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your family! I too have lost my parents, many years ago now and I have had to adapt I guess. I try to put on a positive attitude. If you can develop your faith and believe in yourself that everything would be alright, I believe it can help you. It may not always work out cause I still have bad days and let my fears get a hold of me but it calms down my fears and makes me feel safe

When I am cycling I experience so much freedom and joy that I forget about everything for a while. I guess I should be grateful for the things I have in my life right now and give thanks! Andrew

Well, Andrew, what you are facing now is something I faced when I started my career. I was never certain whether I would really remain employed the next month so I could not borrow to buy a home and all that. I also found my pay packet way too small but couldnt afford to lose the job. I struggled and let myself get so exhausted till I could think only about the next day's job. The struggle lasted almost 20 years! But in retrospect, I feel I achieved a lot because each moment of that struggle is etched in my mind. May be you will feel the same.

Hello vandana, I'm really glad that things have worked out for you. I guess I'm still struggling but I will try and make things better for myself. I guess I have to keep the faith as it were and continue trying to do my best. There are things that I have achieved and I'm really pleased about that! Still, I think that I need some more enjoyment in my life as I don't get much of that these days. Andrew

Still, it's nice to have fellow my lotters like yourself to help keep me on an even keel! I also noticed that you are new to My Lot so a very big welcome to you too! Well, today's another day and I guess I just pull my socks up and start afresh! Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew
