After seeing the movie, I could believe a lot of what they said. If you search the internet there is so much information about a lot of the theories they were talking about. The super volcano in Yellowstone, California falling into the ocean, and so on. After seeing the movie do you think we are heading for the end times? Or do you think this is totally Hollywood fiction at it's best??

This topic was my first discussions topic. I loved that movie, i thought the graphics and stuff looked really realistic. I don't really know whether or not to believe that the world will end, but i'm leaning more toward completely not, because i just... cant imagine it. It doesn't seem logical to me...

It is, of course, Hollywood fiction.
It is true that California (and all of the West coast of the United States is on a subduction zone so that the ocean floor on one plate is being pushed under the other plate (which California and Yellowstone) are part of. This causes earthquakes and volcanic activity in California but is actually very unlikely to cause California to 'fall into the Ocean'.
Movies are made to be believable, of course, however far out (and inaccurate) the theory behind them is. 2012 is the date that the Mayan calendar 'ends' but, in fact, it doesn't 'end' (any more than any calendar does): it simply starts again. There is no more reason for seeing 2012 as the 'end of the world' than there is for seeing the New Year (December 31st in the Christian calendar) as the end of anything. It's just as much a beginning of a new year as it it the end of an old one.
Because the Mayan major cycle is something like 6,000 years long makes its end really no more significant than our year-long one!
