At present time are these options still applicable or not. Is it important that your are happy with your job or what matters most in that you are well compensated. If it is still applicable for you what wounld you choose?

I used to work at a bank and I had a horrible boss! And I mean really irritating and abusive and insulting boss. Treated me bad and others with "higher family" she would treat better and so I said to my superior one day when I gave him my letter, that "I would rather clean the streets than work with people like that". If you're unhappy than what's the point? If u have life situations like kids and family I can understand you don't have a choice... but if you're young and can even go back to school, then why not? I left my last work to come to a whole other country and live with my boyfriend and we go to school together. I mostly left my country to NEVER see those people again. Since my country was pretty small the odds of seeing them was big.

yah me too I prefer to work when I am happy cause I won't be productive if I work with people like that. Same with me I resign from my job in a bank and now I am happy with my present job..Thanx for sharing Lidiam!

that's great mielshare, where do you work now then? and what did you do when you were at the bank? I used to be a cashier, then a transfer clerk. I forgot to mentioned that when I resigned my superior told me he didn't wanted me to leave and offered me another job. So I stayed with that bank 4 years!

Ohh..I see, good for you. I work as a clerk but I can really feel the discrimination so I prefer to resign they we're not approving my resignation but I really want to leave so I left without asking permission which I know is bad. I am currently working as an on-line english teacher.

My husband works at a place he can not stand, but he has to because this is our only source of income. His boss treats him rotten and always comes up with an excuse as to why he can not give my husband more hours, but yet he has been able to hire two new people (both full-time). I know the economy can not be hurting the radio station since his boss can hire two full-time people. If my husband could he would quit. I feel like I am being unfair because he can only attend school part-time until I can find work.

I'm sorry to hear that. Your husband really loves you for him to stay in a place like that. I hope you two will be fine.

I will give you an example.A friend of mine who has already passed the retirement age is still working with a company. However he is being subjected to harassment even though he has a decent salary. I asked him why he is sticking to it if he is not happy. He told me that at his age it would be difficult for him to get a well paid job or even a job with less pay.His wife is also retired and son a student. He has no option but to keep working even though his health is not very good. In the circumstances which everyone finds themselves today it is a catch 22 situation. If they are lucky they may get a well comensated job with a good work environment or if not then either the pay is good but unfriendly working conditions or good working conditions but less pay.Fortunately i am retired and out of the rat race ,but even i am finding it difficult since the cost of living has gone up considerably. If these conditions were applicable to me i would have no choice but to go for the good pay option since i am unmarried. If i had a spouse and she had a job with good pay i would go for the other option of less pay but good working conditions, where i could get job satisfaction and mental peace.

Gosh, this world is a never perfect place for everyone. I want both of that, well compensated and be happy the same time. But it is hard to achieve such thing in life. There is always something missing. I would rather be happy and have some compensation. But environment forces us to rather earn more money too.

I agree with you because it's really hard to work and do something if your heart doesn't belong to it. Thanks for sharing clorissa.

I'd stay out to my job if I am well compensated & Happy than working in a not well compensated job.
