Staying Home

I haven't been out of our house since Sunday early evening. Spent the entire day home yesterday. Worked on crafts, did laundry and piddled on the computer for awhile. Kept busy and it was nice to not have to get dressed and rush somewhere out in the rain. What do you do when you are home for long periods of time? How do you keep busy?

Hands down no question on the rare days that I get to stay home I'm on the computer writing or working with photographs. Right now I have a list of at least 50 topics to write on or photo slideshows to publish - if only I had more time at home and would stop getting distracted with Twitter and socializing on Associated Content - love those things but not always productive :)

Hi Faith. Good to hear from you again. I know what you mean about doing things on here that are unproductive. I am guilty! Sounds like you are very busy and hopefully making a nice living from writing and taking photos. Thanks for responding.

Well Im a SAHM and we only have 1 vehicle so I am home all the time. I get out on Friday nights to do errands and get what we need for the week and right now on Sat. as I shoot on a pool league. Luckily I find so much to occupy me that normally I feel overwhelmed by things to do. These last few weeks I have been going thru and getting rid of things, reading, playing with our 2 year old, I want to start my crafts again. There is so much to do that I dont know if I would ever get bored! I need to clean out my photos, start scrapbooking again, make jewelry I have like 100's of books I still want to read. LOL! Yeah I could go on and on.

What kind of crafts do you make? Keeping busy all the time is a good thing. Beats laying around and watching television. Thanks for responding.

I hear ya about the working on crafts. I am like a homing pigeon. Always go back to crafts when I get bored with the computer. We have had such rotten, nasty weather the last 2 days. Is it spring yet? Thanks for responding.

Oh, my! I'm always busy, even while resting and watching TV. I have about 10 different craft projects going on at the moment (I get bored with one and pick up another, then go back to the first when I feel like it). There's always housework, of course. I have about 30 house plants that I tend to almost daily, plus my dogs' and cats' needs. On good days, I go outside, plant flower seeds, pull weeds, take cuttings of unusual bushes and try to root them, collect seed pods, pinecones, acorns, attractive dried weeds or small tree branches to make crafts out of, try new recipes, get in some myLotting, read emails, play with the dogs, blah blah blah. Even when I'm going somewhere where I know I'll have to wait, like getting my car inspected (which I do have to get done by the end of this month), I'll take something with me to do, like knitting, crocheting, a book to read, sometimes my laptop, or just play games on my cell phone. Once, I had to take my son's girlfriend to the hospital because she had a bad fever (her mom lived out of state) and I was in the middle of creating a banner for a contest to win front-row tickets and backstage passes to meet The Rolling Stones (which I did win... photos on my profile if you're interested) so I took the banner and some permanent markers along with me. I worked on it while waiting for her to be treated. I can't stand to just sit and do nothing, not even just watching TV with nothing else to do. I've always been this way. My family went on vacation once, where I had rented a cottage for a week at the beach. My kids were young so I knew there would be plenty for me to do but even so I was looking around for stuff to do. I couldn't even just sit on the beach and enjoy it without something else to do! Luckily, my oldest son's birthday was in the middle of that week. He turned 7, so I made him a birthday cake and invited family members to spend the day with us at the beach. It was a lot of fun! Now, with Christmas coming up, I'm starting new crafts, adding to my already too-full schedule, but I love it.

And I thought I kept busy when at home. I need a nap after reading your response..lol It's good to keep busy and I also take a craft with me if I am doing something that requires time to sit and wait. Otherwise I get impatient. I work with plastic canvas items and love every minute. Most are very detailed and time consuming. Thanks so much for the good and informative response.

Hi Carol, it seem boring for you at home. On the contrary, I wish that I could stay at home now. Then I would watch movies, listen to music, chat with my friends, etc.

Am not use to staying home for a day or two. Always on the go so it's been interesting to stay home and do whatever I feel like doing. No particular time to have to wake up either which is good. Thanks for responding.

We have just moved into our new apartment so if we are not busy out side then we have a lot of unpacking and settling in to do. Otherwise when it is nasty out side we will both get on the computers and I will work at building websites and my wife will play games.

It's been nasty here the last 2 days but I am ready to get out tomorrow and meet a friend for lunch. I can entertain myself for just so long and then get bored. Bet you are very busy since you recently moved. Takes awhile to get settled. Thanks for responding.

Hi Carol, Oh lets see probably a bit of housework or laundry, cooking some gourmet meals which I tend to do when I have more time as I really enjoy cooking. The same as you - "piddling on the computer", probably go to the gym or for a hike since I am a gym rat and I enjoy that endorphin rush that comes from exercising. Also, read a good book if I have a book to read and that's about it.

You reminded me that I need to clean out closets and drawers. Hopefully I can get some of that done this winter when it's cold and snowy out. Making money on the computer is a good thing. I do have sites where I can earn each day. Thanks for responding.

I usually totally screw up when I'm home for long periods. I really look like a lion in a cage and grrrr....bite anyone!! I try to keep busy cooking, surfing the internet and playing games, but I really hate that, I need to go out! That's for my sanity of mind!

I'm not one to stay home either. I like being out but everyone is gone or busy the last couple of days. I did get all the laundry finished which was a mess from the weekend. I have a husband who likes to change clothes. Thanks for responding.

There are lot of things lying unattended at every home.Things to be cleaned and arranged and files to be kept in order in their places. Most of us find some lame excuses to shrug away from the dull chores and flee the house at a drop of an hat. A well kept house always reflect our character.

Mylot, Christmas Crafts (and then I'll have to start on Birthday crafts), line up more work by calling around, call my friend who is in the hospital, check email, call friends whom I haven't called in a while. Rest, read, pet kitty cats, talk to my hubby. Go for a walk, collect bottles, gather something from the outdoors. There's always something to do. Laundry, dishes, and cooking.

I am at home all the time, there are most days when I am too sick to really get up and do much but on the days that I am feeling pretty good I will usually end up catching up on some cleaning and organizing then I will jump online and snoop around for a little while.. I don;t mind be able to stay home and love those days when I don't have to worry about getting ready and running out somewhere...The kids keep me busy for the most part with things but I would love to start getting into more crafts but am just not sure where to start, I just need to find the motivation...that is one of my resolutions for the new year is to be more motivated LOL...

Im not a busy guy nor afraid of the outdoors, I have just come to dislike the urban environment of the place I live in, ever since I moved into the city. I kill time in da house by training with weights, sleeping for the whole day, being stuck on the computer and other boring stuff, i just wanna go to some jungle or beach outing. BTW the last time I went out was last month.
