How do i improve my site's traffic?

Well,I have open a blog and i update on a regular time basis.However,i don't get much traffic to my site.For your information,i am only listed in search engine with my site's name.I have tried various ways to increase my site's page rank and traffic but it don't seems to be working.I still patiently do search engine optimization for my site.I still a beginner of seo,so can any mylotters enlighten me with your good advice?

One way that you can help your web site appear higher in search engines is to have links to it in different places on the internet. You could go to forums and place your link in discussions that relate to the information that is listed in your blog.
Another way to get more traffic to your web site is to list it with traffic exchange sites. These are going to be good quality hits, but maybe someone will find it of interest and bookmark it for later reference.

Thanks for replying,i did put some link to my site in some forum's account signature and profile.About the traffic exchange sites,is it something like a list directories?
