I used to write all the time now I am not writing. I have nothing to write about like I used to. I have writers block and am feeling really stumped. Do you get writers block? If so, how do you deal with it? Where do you get your ideas? I hate having this problem. My main source of income is writing until I can get my business off the ground and start making money with it. Please help! :)

Maybe you can start by reading. Add some new stuff to the knowledge in your head. Expand into new topics. Take a break from writing. Try getting some exercise, it stimulates the brain. Change your environment. Take the laptop outside. If you really have to write something, start with an outline and then just make yourself write. Sometimes you just have to force yourself to type words.

I do read a lot already! I mostly read fiction though but maybe reading non-fiction will help me more. I don't have a laptop yet but hopefully soon. Thanks for the advice and for responding! :)

[b] Great minds really do think alike! (See my post below!) Or, is this just a case of common sense backed by experience? Either way, put 'er there Sierras!

I'm actually having this same problem right now. I usually try to find a coffee shop or a favorite cozy spot and hang out with my laptop and headphone and turn on some favorite inspirational tunes. Write whatever you feel either on paper or on the computer, and after a while it usually helps me get my thoughts organized and back to a writing frame of mind again.
Good luck!

The majority of what I write comes from around me - life experience, local sights and activities, and personal knowledge. I have just the opposite problem, no writers block here just open my eyes and I have another idea for something to write - my problem is not having the time to write. Ok I need to get off the internet and busy writing :)
LOL have actually been doing the majority of my writing during my lunch hour at work - set in the parking lot and write in a note-book :)

I wish I had more inspiration. I do have ideas swimming around in my head sometimes for stories but I have nothing left to write about for articles where I get paid. I haven't written for Associated Content for about two months and I haven't written anything for Demand Studios for about a month. I am so stuck. I have nothing! Thanks for responding! :)

Whenever I do have writer's block, I stay away from writing for a few days, until I get back my writing drive back. Sometimes, it might take right up to a week. My best advice is if you have a writer's block, just write words on paper or something and familiarize yourself or do drawings and etc. It might help to regain back some inspirations from there. I also try to look at other websites to relax my mind. If I try to write too much, I feel a little burned out. Even when answering discussions in mylot, I participate actively for 1-2 hours and then relax.

Maybe I am burnt out from writing too much before. It has been so long since I wrote anything though and it feels like I am never going to be able to get back to it. It is a terrible feeling. Thanks for responding! :)

I think my burnt out stage is about over. I feel the need to write again and have some article ideas swimming around in my head. It was terrible but I think I am finally over it.
Yes, mylotting does help! :)

Me too... in fact, right now, I'm too burned out to do any articles or blog posts, for that matter. I'm sticking with the lot for a bit and chilling, until my next inspiration comes. And it might take days too. One small tip I always feel is useful is to read articles of others and blog posts. It always is good to read. That's where all the rushes to write will come again once more. And here in the lot, we can read a lot too and hence, answering discussions is like a positive gush feeling.

I mainly write about internet marketing. What I do us surf around all the bigger seo sites. If I see an interesting article I do some research and if I have found new findings I write an article about it.
I also use a great piece of software for when I know what to write about it but I don't know how to write it it is made by Joe Vitale, he's famous and it's called Hypnotic Writing Wizard, it comes with 2 ebooks, a program that helps you step by step to make the most out of your articles as well as hypnotic audio files... :)

Writers block is brought on by stress most of the time. And this sounds like it would be your case exactly. What I normally do when I have a bad case of writers block is relax and start listing words.
Basically I'll flip open a dictionary or look at my word a day calendar and then just start word associations. Once I get a pretty good list I just have fun making silly sentences out of them. Normally that gets me laughing and gets the creative juices flowing again.
I do hope it breaks for you soon! and good luck!

Go on a holiday and treat yourself. Come back and get back to business. Writer's block happens to everyone, I guess. There are some articles on this topic at Helium.com. Do read and get inspired.

Cwilson26,
wish you all good times.
you may remember me as an inactive in youd friend list.
just imagine that I have no time to write and I wish not to write anything because... there are a lot of causes,
but for a simple experiment, I can just suggest you that you can write a review of the book THUS SPAKE ZARATHUSTRA by Friedrich Nietzsche.
I would reed it then.
so, be busy and become exhausted with this one....

A good way to end the writer's block is to do things like you are, responding to others on discussion boards, how about doing different writing practices, there are a lot of neat practices that you can do to get the mojo of writing started again.
Try writing a thousand about an object for example an apple, write about the color, the texture of the fruit. How about if there are any worms, if the skin is bruised how big the bruise is.
Another great practice, sit and just write in a notebook for 10 minutes about anything, just write. It doesn't have to make sense, it doesn't have to have any kind of rhyme or reason.
There is a great author by the name of Natalie Goldberg that has some fabulous books that give some great writing practice techniques that can help boost your writing mojo once again.
Good luck and happy writing!

Oh no, writers block. Well. You could just start writing with what you are comfortable with. You could probably come up with some exercises on your own. Then if they seem interesting, you could use them. There are lots of books on writing. I don't know much about writers block!
I think it would be really fun to come up with exercises on your own. At least perhaps I would like to. This is a good suggestion for me. What might be bad about this is that you isolate yourself. Getting new ideas from another actual person might be beneficial. But it depends.
I could do both. I tend to isolate myself. I need to buck up and submit to the pressures of a writing community. It would teach me to stand up for myself. Also to feel like I contribute.
I don't feel secure in my ideas. I have a lot. Or some general ones. But I just PLAY right now.

I think I am about over my writers block, Thank God! Thanks for the advice though. I know a good writers community you can join if you are interested. www.accentuatewritersforum.com
I am a member there and it is an awesome place for writers. You can enter short stories in their contests, submit Unsent Letters, and they also have paying writing jobs. Not to mention the great community of people on there. Check it out. My name on there is the same on here. Hope to see you there! :)
