After all that Christmas dinner as well as all that chocolate and not forgetting all the booze that has been drunk,do you tend to go on a diet?

I have NEVER been one for New Years resolutions, and I've never been on a diet to lose weight (tho I've lost weight in the past) before this year. I have, since June, lost at least 35 pounds (I say at least because I've not been on a scale since mid-October.) I plan to try sticking to the diet as best as I can during the up coming holidays and be rigorous about being back on it after the holidays. At least I don't drink so that's not much of a temptation...

You will probably do just great with your weight over the holidays. I bet you feel better all the time with the weight you have lost so far.

I honestly, don't feel that much different, the clothes are a bit looser, and there's a shirt I haven't been able to get into the last year or so, but even tho I'm down to about what I weighed in 2000, I don't see it...

I am one of the very lucky few who doesn't need to diet. Am fortunate enough to eat and drink whatever I like and never gain. Must be in my father's genes since my mother was heavy. I know many people make a new year's resolution to stop eating so much after the first of the year but wonder how many really stick to that diet. I have a difficult time leaving chocolate alone.

I am not going to diet this New Year. I eat foods that I want to eat. Who knows it will be my last day on earth so I guess I have to do what I want and that includes to eat food as long as I want. Forget the diet, there is still a day to follow after New Year, let us celebrate for one day. New year is boring in my family, we a simple dinner but still we can't finish the food. We watch the fireworks on television only. We do not engage to go out and go light a fireworks by ourselves because it is dangerous so we just watch television inside. We are happy, I mean my family but I am thankful, I am not totally happy. During New year it is good to set aside the problems for the meantime and celebrate.

I used to try that for several years. Then I just gave up on it and enjoyed all the goodies and did what I could eat well and take care of myself. I think when you start depriving yourself of goodies from time to time you are more apt to go one the horrible nightmarish binges that hurt so badly. We need to eat good food and watch how much we are consuming of the goodies that we know are not that good for us.

i don't believe in dieting cause I really don't eat much. i know some friends who would eat more on holidays and special occasions and go back to dieting again. But personally I just eat what I want to and then burn calories later.

I still remember the days with digestion difficulties after new year holidays, especially the spring festival, in early childhood. Hospitals see more patients with digesting problems. We do need awareness of diet care when the holiday in approaching.

now that i've lived long enough (am 34) and had successfully been back to my pre-pregnancy weight i realized that (probably): 1. dieting should really be a way of life and not something one would do because one chose not to eat properly at one time or another. 2. that people really have a lot (in some instances). one or two carbs and one or two proteins (elaborately cooked for the holidays) would be just fine. a little dessert if there is still decent money left on the food budget after the elaborate preparations of the carbs and proteins. 3. once a person's stomach had been used to what is little or recommended serving the body naturally tells a person when he had too much on his tummy already and the feeling of fullness lasts for a long time that there is no need to diet anymore. just my opinions... so, would i go on a diet this new year? i guess my stomach would just be sick and tired of everything i had already that i wouldn't consume way above the normal servings after the holidays...

For the past several years I have done this, and for the past several years I have failed to be successful. Well, until this year, at the beginning of this year I decided that it was time to lose some weight, and I've been able to maintain my habits of being more active and eating much healthier foods for all of this year to date. I'm hoping that the upcoming holidays don't ruin the good track that I've been on and that I will be able to continue through the holidays and into next year so I don't have to make losing weight a New Year's Resolution, but rather keep it as a lifestyle.

hi jugs^^;; hmmm..i remember a joke being passed through text messages that says: "never weigh more than thy refrigeratorr." i think i don't need to diet because i don't easily gain weight whether i eat a lot. i must admit i do eat a lot during those feast but i still manage to maintain my figure. ofcourse i gain weight but not that much to worry about. my family anyway, doesn't prepare those usual oily food and i easily get tired eating meat prepared for those holidays

DIET?? on christmas holidays and new year??? nahhhh i don't think so. It is a time for joy and a time to get together with family and friends. Christmas holidays and new year for me is like party, party and party.. food there and everywhere! why should we go through a diet??? It is just a matter of disciplining and controlling your own self on what you eat and drink. I just want to enjoy and be happy!

Yes. It seems like I am always on some kind of diet. Sometimes it is a see food diet LOL. I see food and I eat it and then regret it later. I do try to watch what I eat after the holidays too though.

Nope. I might deprive myself on a lot of things but food is never one of them. Food is my passion actually. But I do admit that I can go overboard at times. Most especially during occasions. The last months of the year is quite a challenge for me because September is fiesta month in this town, October has a fiesta day in my cousins' place so we get to visit them and feast^_^, I have a 'food break' in November, but come December, its gorging time again because of the Holidays. That extends of course up to the New Year. Then after that first occasion of the year, I get to have a downtime during the months of February to July. Those are the months that I am most slim in the year, other months I am my slightly chubby self.LOL Dieting doesnt really help me. It just makes me want to eat more because Im aware of limiting myself with the things that I wanted to eat. So I tend to eat more than usual. Its just really best to eat in moderation or in a manner of speaking, we have to pace ourselves so that the pounds will not get ahead of us in the long run.^_^

No not at all. I will eat as usual but will eat in moderation, and not over do it. I'm not going to stuff my face at one sitting. I will eat till I feel comfortable. I can't stand the feeling of being overstuffed. As for drinking I'm not a big drinker and I know when to stop. So I really shouldn't have a problem at all.

I am planning on going on a diet after New Year's but I have a tendency to break this goal about a month after New Year's. I have never been big making resolutions. The last time I made a resolution and kept it was three years ago when I said that I was going to get out of debt. I had been able to get rid of my credit cards and now I do not use them at all.
