We had an old dog his breath stunk most of the time. So when we got Samson as a small puppy we started to brush his teeth. We use an old tooth brush we weren't using anymore. Now when we go to brush our teeth he is the first one in the bathroom to get his teeth brushed. If we don't brush his teeth first he gets a little impatient with us. We use a little mouth wash when we brush his teeth. He has to stand up at the sink to rinse his mouth out. He loves it when we brush his teeth. So do you brush your dogs teeth?

That is so cute. I love that picture. You did the right thing by starting it when he was a puppy. I brushed my dogs teeth a few times, It was very confusing to her though and she just kept trying to lick the brush and I had a hard time getting to her teeth. We used to buy her these big real cow bones to chew on and they kept her teeth pretty clean until she got older, she lived to be 15 but eventually she ended up breaking her teeth on one of the bones but she was really old at that point.

Hello lady. You must have really loved this dog! I can read it in your response. Seems like to me that she was a real part of the family. I started brushing our Sams teeth cause of our last dog Bear. Bear had real bad breath so I thought if I started Sam at a young age he would be more used to it when he got older. Now he comes running when one of us go to brush our teeth and he waits his turn for brushing his teeth. Hope you have a great day and thanks for sharing!

I don't have dog, but if I did I would I totally brush his/her teeth. I am considering brushing Richard's teeth.my cat, his vet sent home all these brochures about it. I honestly don't he'd abide it through. He's way to hyper.

Hello Cripfemme. I don't know if I would do that to a hyper cat.....LOL Tell me how it works out if you decide to though. Now if it was a kitten learning to brush his teeth it might not be too bad to deal with. We started brushing Sams teeth when he was just a couple of months old. Now he has to have them brushed every time we brush our teeth. Good luck on brushing your cats teeth. Hope you have a great day!

Gosh you have such a cute dog.
2 out of 5 of my dogs are a pain to brush but we do it anyway. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, I bought some beef flavored dog toothpaste because we ran out. They each have their own toothbrushes which is really just one of those kids' toothbrushes. We have the sesame street series so each of them has their own character. We got elmo, oscar, ernie, bert and grover brushes. One for each.

You're most welcome. I got the toothpaste in a local pet supplies store. The brand is Petrodex and the toothpaste comes in 2.5 oz tubes. Cost me around 7USD. 2 of my dogs aren't really crazy about minty toothpaste so I had to look for other alternatives. Thanks and I hope you have a wonderful day ahead.

Thanks Rg. Where did you get the beef flavored toothpaste? Sam loves peppermint toothpaste. Sam has an old tooth brush we had used till it was really soft but he expects his teeth brushed every time one of us brushes our teeth. Thanks for the response. Hope you have a great day!

Hello Abbie and welcome to my lot. We started brushing Sams teeth when he was still a baby I think that is why he likes it so much. I wouldn't start brushing his teeth if he was older. Bear had chew stuff too eat and he really had bad breath. That is the reason we started brushing Sams teeth.
