I see sometimes that our dog barks even he's asleep. I think he's dreaming. I wonder what it is? Chasing cats, chasing the other dogs in the neighborhood, doing "it" with the girl next door, or dreaming about his next meal in the morning.
Do you think animals have dreams too? Have you observed one?

I think my dogs have dreams also.. Sometimes I would hear them bark and when I look, they are asleep.. lol. sometimes, its a bark, sometimes they whine... One time he looked like he was running, and then he suddenly stood up, and looked like he was going to chase something. LOL.

Yes, I think that this is probably the case! I used to have a pet do named Patch, he was real cute. Anyway, I would constanly notice him kicking out with his paw and whimpering from time to time. This indicated to me that he was in a dream state, I have no idea whether it was a pleasant or unpleasant dream, it was nice to watch though. I miss Patch and I sure do wish that I had another dog of my own. As regards other animals like horses, cows, monkeys or whatever, I would say they dream as well! Andrew

Hello Fulltank, I am not sure if it is them dreaming or not but I have always been told that that is what they are doing. My dog seems to dream quite a bit especially in the day time when the kids are away at school and the house is quiet. I am guessing that is when she is able to sleep the best because the kids aren't bothering or running around making noise, she will so often bark under breathe or even at times she will kick her legs like she is running. I will most of time wake her up because I just feel she is dreaming a bit hard at the times and I want to tease her but there are other times when I just let her "chase the kitties" till she decides to quit LOL
