How do you remember faces & names

well most of the time i either forget the persons face or otherwise their name or sometimes both. its so embarrassing. have you faced such situations. do you have any technique to remember faces and names.

I easily forget names and faces especially if they are not my everyday acquaintances. It is really embarassing and will hurt the person but I think there is just something wrong with my brain memory because whatever I do like associating this person with this event or item or song... I just simply forget!
