Hello dear myLotters. There are designated birth stones for each of us. People believe in the benefits of wearing the birth stones, that they bring good fortune, keeps the person protected from the misfortunes, and also that they bring good health. I have been wearing my birth stone on the ring since the time an astrologer advised me to, and I sense that there have been benefits of wearing it. How about you ? Do you wear your birth stone ?

Hi greenline, I love my birthstone which is opal. It's been connected with many different beliefs, considered the "most beautiful and desirable of all gems because it highlights all the colors of the rainbow". According to legends, the wearer of the opal, would be protected from the wrath of others, able to be invisible from foes thus escaping misfortune. It is the symbol of hope and purity and an inspiration for the arts and love. I consider them all the above (although the times I have wished to be invisible has not happened yet, smile). I also have heard of them not being good luck if worn by those that are not born in October but I don't know where that came from. I have an opal necklace that I used to wear all the time, but nowadays I don't wear any jewelry but I do bring it out for special occasions.

I'm born in the month of August and i think my birth stone is peridot... I'd love to wear any jewelry with my birthstone but haven't found any earrings which i like with my birthstone. And i do believe that it does bring good luck to the person who is using it...

Hey greenline! What an interesting discussion! I have never had
my (our) birthstone ever! I have had many gemstones, but never
an Opal which everyone knows is my avatar and is such a beautiful
stone! I had heard that one should never buy themselves an Opal
because it was bad luck! And of course, no one ever bought me
one so I just never had one to wear and was always scared to
get one for myself? Did you ever hear that story? Did you buy
yourself an Opal? That is your birthstone right?

I had a necklace and pair of earring with my birthstone when I was growing up. I use to wear them once in awhile. I did not take them with me when I left and now I do not know what happen to them.

How does the birth stone looks like? Is it a culture of your country? I'm from Indonesia and we don't know anything about the birth stone.
Maybe cosmologic views can explain the mystery of birth stone you've described. Human beings are integral part of the universe. There must be material that have a great conformation with human's material to support human's life. And maybe the birth stone is one of those supporting materials.
Do you have any other explanation?

My birthstone is topaz. It's a yellowish stone I think. I'm not very fond of yellow stones as ornaments so I don't wear my birth stone. I used to wear sapphire as a pendant because it looked better but only because of that. I didn't know birth stones brought good fortune to their wearer though.

No, i didn't know about that at all. But now that you have mentioned it then i would try to get my birthstone and if i do, wear it all the time for protection, i see no harm in doing it. This is what i am grateful about on here the learning never stops. Thank you for the information, my friend.
