Is Anyone Else Quitting Smoking for the Great American Smoke-Out?

I am going to try to quit smoking tomorrow for the Great American Smoke-Out. I've smoked since I was 15, so that's 11 years now. So I'm going to try to do it for the day and see where it goes from there. I don't smoke more than a pack a day, but the last two times I've tried to quit I haven't even made it through the day. The longest I have ever gone without smoking is 4 weeks, but that was when I was pregnant with my first son--and he's 5 now. My husband isn't going to quit tomorrow, so that will be a challenge.
So, is anyone else going to try tomorrow?

Ah, yet more propaganda and interference in our lives!
I think we have one of those 'stop smoking' / 'butt out' / 'f*g ends' days every couple of weeks in the UK, not that anyone takes any notice.
I won't join you - but I'll have one for you!
Cheers.
(And good luck, whatever you choose to do.)

I get what you're saying about the propaganda. I have a real aversion to the government getting so pushy and "we-know-better-for-you" and all. And there have been a lot of times where I've smoked right through the Smoke-Out day--in fact, this is the first one that I'm going to quit for. I guess my attitude is that for those who want to quit, it's a good opportunity.

I don't smoke, but I sure wish my husband would do it. He has tried many times without success.
