Watching Doctor Oz I found out about the dangers of using a cell phone. Which I have thought for a while now, because I can't use my phone to my ear for more then 5 minutes without pain in the side of my head. Now watching Doctor Oz I have learned the following and want to share with all of you the five steps to being safe from cell phones. Researches have studied the association between tumors and cell phone use. They have discovered about a 30% increased risk of tumors. There was a gentlemen on the show who had used his phone constantly for 20 years on one side of his head and he ended up with a cancerous tumor on that side of the head. His wife said his personality started to change about 8 years ago and know one really knew what was going on until he had an MRI done. The cell phones we are using emit radio frequency radiation. Its not as damaging as radiation from x-rays however, it can still affect our DNA. Most at risk are children because their brains are alot thinner and also contains more fluids. With that, they can absorb electricity at a greater rate. The 5 steps are the following:
1. Put the phone on speaker - it will reduce exposure by 1,000 to 10,000 times.
2. Use a wire - In a noisy crowded place use a wired headset. If you must use a wireless headset make sure you turn it off if you're not using it.
3. When not using the phone leave it in your pocketbook. If you leave in on your waist keep it turned off. Cell phones in your pocket can decrease sperm count.
4. When you find the reception bad use your phone for emergencies only. The weaker the signal the more the radio frequency has to boost itself to get connected, which then increases exposure.
5. Do not let children use cell phones next to their heads. Texting is probably the best for them.

I don't really think many will use a speaker to talk to their mobile phone. Honestly, I guess most people won't really follow such advices, as this is more of a long-term process. And we all know how people nowadays are oblivious to long term damages to their body. A good example is blasting music into their ears. It will take a good 10 to 20 years before ear damages will start to kick in.
Also, the steps mentioned above do make things troublesome, contradicting the fact that mobile phones are to make things simpler, not more difficult. Hopefully the manufacturer will do more research in reducing radiation emitted from cellphones.

with the radiation, cell phones are surely damage to our health, even cause tumors,as you mentioned.and actually,to my knowledge, even though you don't use it next to you head,it would damage to other organs.we hav to admit that convenience is always accompanied by cost.so the key of solving this problem is decreasing the radiation of the cell phones, but the 5 steps may help when we can not avoid using the cell phones with frequent radiation.anyway, thanks for sharing the infomation.

It's really diffult to follow these advices. I will try to use the cell phone as little as may be.
As far as I know all all electronic devices emit radiation. The most used computers affect our health more deeply.
We have to bear it, since we are living in a world surrounded by dangers.

When I started to use the cell phone I was ok but now coming on two years in January, I started to get pain in my head right above my ear about 6 months ago. So now I always put the speaker on. I was very scary to hear this guy on TV tell about his ordeal. Thanks for responding.

What!!?? Did you say sperm count!!? Jeez I better keep my phone of my waist. But I need it on, I get text messages every fifteen minutes during noon time. I don't really call much,, about 10 times a week (sweet). So if what your saying is factual, can you give tips where I could safely put my cell phone on? By the way my phone is a Nokia E71. XD

This is what Doctor Oz stated on his show this week. He said if you have it on your waist to shut it off. That could be a problem to me if you are waiting for a call or if someone is trying to get in touch with you. Maybe in your jacket pocket?

Thank you for posting these safety guides. I heard about this before and wasn't really paying much attention to it until lately. I noticed that I get headaches when I stay on the cellphone longer. I'm a fan of Dr. Oz but I cannot manage to watch his show often due to my work schedules. I need to warn my friends and love ones too. Thanks!

Hi lenlin!
These are good tips on the proper way of using cellphone to avoid damage to our health. I have also read an article about a woman who often carry her cellphone on her pocket near her abdomen for years. The result was, she became infertile and the doctor says that her uterus was damaged by the radiation from the cellphone. Besides this, the metal used for cellphone housings have a chemical that hurts our skin. When we often have our cellphone touching our cheek and ears, the skin becomes itchy which turns into somewhat like an eczema. Very yucky if we have that on our face.
I do not always use my cellphone. Neither I always carry it on my pocket. I have a casing for it so the radiation won't be directly released on my skin when I carry it around. Be it also a reminder to those who sleeps with their cellphones beside them. We should avoid that.
About children using cellphones, I do not agree on that. The texting can make them poor in grammar and spelling. You know how people sometimes spell it on text, we delete some letters and some words to make the text short. And if kids would do that often, they could get used to wrong spellings and grammar.
Ciao!

That is terrible about this lady becoming infertile. See and alot people don't believe or just don't care about their health to take the necessary precautions.I agree with you about kids texting and for that matter having a cell phone especially if they are still in grammar school. I lived 51 years of my life without a phone at my side. I only brought one in January 08 and when the contract expires in January I'm giving it up. Thank you so much for sharing and responding.

Thanks for sharing that I had always heard that cell phones could be bad for you but I never knew just how much damage that they could really cause. I had never thought about my phone still causing harm even when I wasn't talking on it that was very interesting to know and something I will remember from now on.

Thank you so much for posting this. I never would have thought that cell phones can cause cancer. I don't guess any of us would have thought so. Nobody calls me much on my cell phone and I only use it in emergencies, anyway. I keep it turned off when I'm at church, Messiah Practice, and out at EASI where I volunteer. I also keep it turned off when I'm singing at the nursing home and assisted living facility. I sometimes use it to check my bank balance when I'm away from home. Kathy.

If you only use it in emergencies you will be ok I'm sure. I didn't trust them for awhile now because of the pain I would feel when using the phone. After seeing the show I know I'm right about my feelings. Thanks so much for responding.

I have heard how dangerous cell phones are on the news. I only have cell phone on when I leave the house and it is for emergencies only. Some of the tips will be easy to do but some will be to hard especially for people who use their cell phone for their business.

Even if they use them for business they should try to use the speaker more offen and or a bluetooth would help. Thanks for responding.
