A couple of months ago, I was so excited when I lost 40 pounds that I posted it here. And promised I would tell people when I hit a 50 pound lost. Well today I went over the 50 pound lost mark to 52 pounds.
What a feeling, I can feel myself getting healthier.
I was stuck for a while with very small losses, my pedometer had broke. I ordered a new one 10 days ago...and lost 3.2 pounds this week. I go for 12K steps a day but settle for 10K. I have hit 12K twice. Walking really does help.
So celebrate with me!
Do you have any celebrations?
BTW-- My husband lost 77 pounds as of today!

Woo hoo! Congratulations! I'm stuck at 22 punds and have been for a while. My back, I can't even describe it. I can't even wait for my next appointment on December 3rd. I decided when I almost fell down the stairs today (to get to my apartment I have to climb up and down a flight of stairs) that I had to get ahold of him. I have no idea what he can do about it, but I can't exercise at all, and that is keeping me from progressing in my weight loss. On the plus side, my sister has now lost 122 pounds since January. And she looks great. I don't think she needs to lose anymore, but she says she needs to lose 25 more pounds to get to where her doctor told her she needed to be. My goal is to lose 35 more. That is where my doctor wants me to be.

That sucks that yo hurt your back. But losing 22 pounds is great. It took me 8 weeks to lose 5 pounds but not I am back on track. Can you get small weights and use them while you are sitting. DO leg lifts and things while sitting. Ask the doctor, maybe he can send you for physical therapy.

I also use the resistance bands to build a little muscle (it is fun, I do exercises during commercials). I think that helps too.
Do you have an exercise bike or something you can use without putting too much pressure on your foot?

Hey Debs! Wow! Congratulations! That is totally amazing! You
and your husband should be so proud of yourselves! I think
that is so wonderful that you both were able to lose the weight,
and do it together! Keep staying healthy! I give you so much
credit because I know how difficult and how hard you had to work
to do it! Again, you guys should be so proud of yourselves!!!

Yup, I am doing weight watchers too. This new program is great. I can't wait to see what they come up with in 2010. How much have you lost?

I have been doing weight watchers and walking.
It is simple and actually relatively painless. I have changed my eating but still get to munch on 'junk' every so often. I don't feel deprived at all.

Thank you...I have not done anything special. I am doing weight watchers.
My typical day goes something like this: Breakfast
1 cup steel cut oatmeal with fruit and a 1/2 cup of milk or 1/2 cup egg beaters, with onion sauteed in 1 tsp olive oil, 2 slices lean ham and a Kim's bagel with a little fat free cream cheese.
Snack - a light string cheese or a vita muffin top
Lunch at work is a sandwich, a WW yogurt, a lot of veggies, a fruit, a string cheese, a tootsie roll.
Dinner - usually 3 or 4 ounces of meat, a ton of veggies, and a carb
Snack - some ice cream, or some fruit or both
Plus -- I have weekly points to play with....I usually save those for special occasions when we go out to dinner or holidays.
Plus my walking.
I have not posted until I lost 40 pounds and now that I am over 50 pounds..and the light at the end of the tunnel is a bit more then a teeny bit of light..I am getting excited about it.

Yipee! I am on the same course. However I haven't purchased a pedometer that lasts for more than a week. So I can only hope I am sometimes reaching my 10,000 steps. I am only 1/2 way to my goal.

I bought an OMron hj-112, it is under $25. It has an aerobic mode and an all day mode and it also has a 7 day memory.
It comes with a holster and a safety strap and seems quite durable. You may want to look into it. it comes with a 1 year warrranty. Like you I have broken I think 4 pedometers in a few months. When I have one I lose...I don't have it..and the weight loss slows down to nothing.
I am just over 25 pounds away from goal as of Wednesday..Hopefully I did not fall off the wagon too hard yesterday.

I never really exercised before and my main exercise is walking...and it does make a difference. When my walking was down, I lost barely any weight.

That is so wonderful to hear. I really would like to lose another 75 pounds on top of what I have already lost. I lost the weight that I've lost by drinking a lot more water and trying to exercise all the time. The thing that is making it difficult for me right now is the weather. I really like to get outside to work out, but unfortunately that isn't possible with the weather turning colder.
I must, however, say that you and your husband are an inspiration to me and it won't be too long before I can say that I'm up to 50 pounds lost.

I hear you on the weather. I just told my husband I wanted silk long underwear for Christmas so that I can continue to walk. They just paved a rail trail out by us and it is great, I am out there several times a week ...even yesterday morning, I did 3 miles before commencing the food fest.
I really dont like to exercise...but I get out the ipod and walk...and the time goes fast and I feel better.
I will be your weight loss buddy if you like.
I my husband and i do weight watchers together and it really helps.

Yes, about 30 more pounds. Today I was told not to lose too much more weight..but I would like to see a BMI in the low 20's.
I find that the walking helps me when I am down. If you keep moving, you feel better. Of course taking the ipod and listening to some good music is a big help.
hanks

If I can help you, I feel good. My main activity has been walking. I walk the dogs and I walk as much as I can at work. Get a pedometer and challenge yourself. The first few weeks I was barely doing 4000 steps. Every week I wanted to average a bit more than the last week.
It is a game that pays off on the scale.

Hello Deb. Wow that is great what is your secret? I lost for 287 to 160 by eating special K and walking 3 miles a day. Thank God for that. I was wearing sweat pants instead of jeans now I can wear jeans again. I hate sweat pants but you do what you have to do. I give the credit to my weight loss to God special K walking and the love of my life. I only want to lose a few more pounds and get my body back into the shape it was in when I was a young adult. It is harder when you get older so wise to keep fit while you are young. Congratulations on your losing all that weight I know you must feel like a new person. It is good when your partner will work with you. Keep us up to date on your weight loss. Did you change your eating habits to lose this weight too? I did I replaced 2 meals a day with special K and it really worked. I still ate small portions of the sweets but not too much. I do have a sweet tooth that if not happy it won't let me be happy either.....LOL Good job keep up the good work.

Hi Deb. I don't eat that much it is actually caused in me by being too lazy to get off my fat bottom. That is what made me lose weight. But then I was encouraged by the fact that I had a very special someone to go see. We eat a lot healthier now. Keep up the good work and lose all that you want to but stay healthy. Have a great day.
